Pregnancy Safe Daily Moisturizers with SPF

What daily moisturizer with SPF is safe to use while pregnant?

You may have noticed I have a ton of posts added to my pregnancy safe beauty series lately. I am overwhelmed with emails and comments daily from readers asking me to review their favorite products or suggest a pregnancy safe product.

I was asked recently on the Pregnancy Safe Sunscreen and BB Cream post for my favorite pregnancy safe moisturizers with sunscreen. I was like…. there’s like 15 in this list. But really, those are sunscreens that you would layer over other products. A one step sunscreen in your morning moisturizer is much more my speed.

I searched around and it is actually very difficult to find a pregnancy safe moisturizer with sunscreen. This is primarily because purely mineral based sunscreens are hard to find in a lotion, they tend to give the skin a white cast. (You can read about why I think you need to avoid chemical sunscreens during pregnancy.) I did manage to find some, note the product I used while pregnant has been reformulated. I have tried the Burt’s Bees and the Aveeno here, both are good and lightweight.

Dr. Jart Cicapair ™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30, more pregnancy safe Dr. Jart products

Acure Radically Rejuvenating Day Cream Facial Moisturizers – SPF 30

Neutrogena Healthy Defense® Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50-Sensitive Skin: Be very careful purchasing this product. There are several very similar appearing products (1 with Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, which is a chemical sunscreen), and another with even more chemical sunscreens. I would buy directly from Neutrogena and check the ingredient list.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Fragrance-Free Daily Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive, Dry Skin with SPF 30

Burt’s Bees Renewal Day Lotion SPF 30

Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Photo-Brightening Moisturizer SPF 30 Changed? Or new ingredient lists up? Regardless, there is now a chemical sunscreen

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF30

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47

Also Safe:

Kypris Pot of Shade Heliotropic Treatment Primer SPF 30: This appears to be a moisturizing primer, not as much of a regular moisturizer, but I wasn’t 100% sure based upon descriptions I found online.

Neutrogena® Naturals Brightening Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 25: Similar to the other Neutrogena product, there are several very similar products. Compare labels very closely after purchase, I would only buy from Neutrogena online.

Please note I will not answer questions on this post regarding product safety. Please head to the big list of pregnancy safe skincare products post and find your specific brand there. Reminder to defer to the pregnancy safety brand lists regarding pregnancy safety. Those lists are updated a lot more frequently than round ups.

I thought that supplements and medicine has sensitive to pregnant women because they are all in-take a pill. Also, the beauty products like lotion and sun block cream has sensitive pregnant women. Since these beauty products are external use my question is:

How sensitive these beauty products to pregnant womens? Kindly enlighten me please.

I’m freaking myself out now, I’m 10 weeks and have been using Laura Mercier spf 30 primer everyday. Should I contact my midwife. Didn’t even think twice about it.

No, I would just switch. Remember that your skin is a barrier, it doesn’t actively absorb these things, some of which are found in very small amounts, and many of the things we say are “not safe” it is more of a theoretical thing that we will never be able to prove/disprove with studies (the only ones that could really prove anything are actually unethical to perform). Most women never even think about swapping out their products and things are fine! I would just switch to a different product and not worry about it.
