Pregnancy safe skincare can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.
Please note, it can take up to an hour to review the ingredient lists of each product. I review with my own list of pregnancy safe criteria. I obtain my ingredient lists from the brands and major retailers (typically Nordstrom and Sephora), and I review the US versions. For more brands, please head over to the list of pregnancy safe products.
How to Request a Product Review
This list is not an exhaustive list of pregnancy safe lip balms. This is a list of products that should be easily found or ordered online, hopefully they will make your life easier!

Hello doctor, in past few days since I found out pregnancy, I have checked all my cosmetics (about or more than 100), and throw away many, and kept many. Many people tell me vaseline, ingredient is major petroleum jelly, is totally safe during pregnancy, however, this website says the petroleum jelly isn’t safe. It looks like a commercial website without any proof or expertise, what do you think? I got a jar of pure petroleum jelly from Dollarama last week, which is made from India, should I use it? Or it’s not safe as this website says?
The main issue most people have is that it’s derived from crude oil basically, and they feel that’s “not natural” (though it comes out of the ground) and that alone is enough to make it horrible. We don’t have any evidence that it isn’t safe, similar to mineral oil which is in the same boat. I don’t think you need to worry about using it at all, while pregnant, nursing or otherwise. Having said that, if it makes you at all nervous, I just wouldn’t use it. I don’t think it’s worth losing sleep over skincare, there’s enough other things in the world right now that cause anxiety and skincare shouldn’t be one of them!
