Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Weleda

Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Weleda

Pregnancy safe beauty products can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.

Here you’ll find pregnancy safe products from Weleda as of 3/11/2020. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. If they release a new product that is not listed here, please comment below and I will add it. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

How to Request a Product Review

I try to review all of the products that I can when I publish a list. Note, I am in the US and I only have access to US products. Please don’t be rude if I skipped your favorite cleanser, when items are out of stock sometimes they aren’t on the brand’s site, or maybe you are in Asia and I am in the US.

I reserve the comments on each post for reviews of product from that brand, this makes it easier for others to find products later. Please only ask about Weleda on this post, I will delete other product questions. You can find other brands here. If your brand is not included, please ask on the brand list post.

    Hello, good day,

    and also just to make sure this shampoo and conditioner are safe too;

    Weleda Oat Replenishing Shampoo.

    Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Disodium Coco Glucoside Citrate, Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids, Alcohol, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Sucrose Laurate, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Glyceryl Caprylate, Sodium PCA, Avena Sativa (Oat) Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Lactic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, PCA Glyceryl Oleate, Arginine, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Sodium Phytate, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Coumarin*.

    *from natural essential oils.

    Weleda Oat Replenishing Conditioner.

    Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, PCA Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Extract, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Isoamyl Laurate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Althaea Officinalis Root Extract, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Arginine, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Coumarin*

    Hello doctor,
Thank you very much for your great website that helps so many women around the world to take wise and informed decisios :). I am pregnant with my first baby, and I kindly would like to ask your advice on these two sun lotion products from Weleda during the pregnancy and breastfeeding. Which one do you recommend to buy a SPF 30 or a SPF 50?
I am wondering also about the SPF this since I live in Sweden, and hence our exposure to sun light during the year is quite limited to mostly during the summer months.

Thanks again for your time and help
    Have a great day.

They’re both safe for pregnancy and nursing. With the hormones during pregnancy it’s best to go with the highest SPF that you can tolerate to use correctly, it’s a great time to develop melasma.

Ok thanks sorry I just checked that list!
I had seen a few sites saying white mallow extract And borage seed oil may not be safe during pregnancy, but it’s not on your list to avoid so should be fine right?

Also, this isn’t skin care related but are hemp seeds ok to consume during pregnancy? I love the extra protein boost.

Thanks again for all your help<3

Those ingredients are both fine for pregnancy/nursing.

I recommend avoiding all hemp during pregnancy and nursing, especially ingested. This is my blurb for topical hemp/CBD, but it would apply more so if you’re eating it:
There isn’t info out there on the safety of Cannabis used topically during pregnancy or nursing. We do know smoking marijuana with THC has bad effects and should be avoided, though it hasn’t been fully decided if it is just the THC or something else as well.
Note that in theory Hemp and CBD do not have THC in them, it’s breed out of the plant is the official status. However, depending upon how it was processed many CBD oils will test positive for THC. But there are still the unknowns we haven’t decided about. I would not recommend using Hemp or Cannabis products while nursing or pregnant for that reason.
