Pregnancy safe beauty products can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products.

These aren’t available in the US, so they aren’t on our Vichy website.
#1 has chemical sunscreens, a salicylate and salicylic acid derivative. All of those should be avoided while pregnant, but it is ok for nursing.
#2 and #3 are ok for pregnancy.

The quality of this study is poor for drawing conclusions. Retrospective remembering what you took and when is full of errors, people lie to say what they think the researchers want, etc. Topical vs oral is also very different.

aluminum isn’t something you need to avoid. You can pretty much find info out there about avoiding everything possible, much of which isn’t based on much. It’s not considered an ingredient to avoid by the medical community. My list of ingredients that I screen out is very conservative and it’s here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy

I have been using a “natural” anti-transpirant that was recommended by a dermatologist for about a week but I found it completely useless. Also after using it I saw that it contains horsetail and after researching this herb I found out that it should be avoided during pregnancy and it got me worried. Horsetail is ok for pregnancy, it’s different topical vs ingested. But you shouldn’t be worried about your deodorant at all!

You don’t need to worry about specific combinations of products. In addition, hyaluronic acid isn’t an “acid” as you’re likely thinking about it. It’s a very large molecule that holds water to it and helps hydrate the skin, not really an acid. It’s also made by your skin and already found in your dermis. You mentioned Aqualia Thermal Water Gel is not safe for pregnancy as it contains salicylic acid. 1. What would be salicylic acid in the list below? 2. I am 5 months pregnant, and I’ve been using this moisturizer for a while. The Vichy reps say its pregnancy safe. Should I be worried?

Thanks for the post! I thought that “parfum” was the be avoided and I see it in the Vichy cleanser.
It’s fine actually, every other pediatrician and all the OBs I’ve ever spoken to about it say not to worry. The only thing I’m concerned about with it is that skin is much more sensitive during pregnancy, so skin reactions are more common.
