Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Neutrogena

Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Neutrogena

Pregnancy safe skincare can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.

Here you’ll find every pregnancy safe skincare product from Neutrogena as of 4/28/2019. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. If they release a new product that is not listed here, please comment below and I will add it. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

Please refer to my post on pregnancy safe makeup, where I explain why you don’t need to worry about your mascara, powders, eyeliners, brow products, etc. I do not review these products.

Please note, it can take up to an hour to review the ingredient lists of each product. I review with my own list of pregnancy safe criteria. I obtain my ingredient lists from the brands and major retailers (typically Nordstrom and Sephora), and I review the US versions. Please do not ask me to re-review the same products over and over, I do not have the time to do so, and many people have been rude about this. For more brands, please head over to the list of pregnancy safe products.

Note that Neutrogena does not always list “Active Ingredients” online, so please double check your product’s ingredient list.

Hello. I have just stumbled upon your website while searching for facial products safe for pregnancy. I would like to tell you that your website is very useful! However, I would like to check with you if Neutrogena’s On-the-spot acne treatment, containing benzoyl peroxide, is safe for pregnancy? Thank you in advance. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply my query. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.

          15mins said:

Hyaluronic acid has always been considered safe. It is a very large molecule made naturally within your skin, it isn’t an “acid”, it has many uses but in skincare it works to hold water at the surface of the skin. It has a difficult time penetrating down into the skin (it comes “fractionated” now, which means broken up/smaller, and that can penetrate the skin, but it isn’t really thought to get into the blood stream).

I thought it would be ok as it’s a light and not a laser, but I have some OB and Derm friends who recommend avoiding it. It’s a big unknown, and the thought is that with the treatments things are released from the cells in the area that would be able to reach the baby. I’m not sure how much this happens and if it could even be harmful (because it happens with normal cell death anyways), but that’s why the caution. I’ve kind of decided to remain neutral and tell people to ask their own doctors and decide for themselves 🙂

Good afternoon. I have a question concerning one of your recommendations. On this page you have Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer listed as not safe during pregnancy (due to Gluconolactone), but it is listed as a recommended product for the basic drugstore skincare routine on a different page of your site. Has the formula changed and it is no longer an acceptable product?

    Hi

I just noticed that one of the products from Neutrogena is listed on this page both on pregnancy safe list and in the list that is unsafe for pregnancy.

Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover is listed as safe

Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser: Willow Bark (Salicylate) not safe.

But when I open the link for both it shows the same product. On Neutrogena website also these two are the same. https://www.neutrogena.com/skin/skin-cleansers/neutrogena-naturals-fresh-cleansing-makeup-remover/6802518.html
