Pregnancy Safe Skincare from Derma e

Pregnancy safe skincare can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products.

Here you’ll find every pregnancy safe skincare product from Derma e as of 12/11/2022. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

Absolutely so happy that I found your blog. I’m pregnant with baby number 2 and have been searching high and low for skin care that is safe for me to use. With my first I was so clueless about skincare that I didn’t use any my entire pregnancy and my skin really suffered. With this second pregnancy I actually own more than half the pregnancy safe products on the derma e list and it makes me so happy that I can still use them!

I’m not certain if the Centella Asiatica Meristem Cell Culture is a stem cell ingredient. Sometimes stem cells are listed this way, but not always. I would check into what the brand is claiming about stem cells in the product. My concerns are in this post: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy.

It’s otherwise ok for pregnancy and nursing, so it’s really up to you.

Hello, I just wanted to raise your attention to something- I bought the advanced peptide and collagen serum thinking it was pregnancy safe. On their website the ingredients look fine, but then it arrived and retinyl palminate is listed as one of the ingredients on the box. Is this ingredient safe still for pregnancy or should I not use this serum? Thankyou so much for your time and putting this list together.

Oh no! They must have reformulated but not updated info anywhere, I agree with you, I don’t see it listed in the ingredients on their website. I’m glad you checked! It isn’t safe. I’ve updated the post to reflect this info.

Would the safe products be the same as of today? I use the vitamin c cleanser and I just ran out and found out I was pregnant. Being the second pregnancy, I remembered not all facial cleansers and creams are allowed.

Anyways, would the DMAE cleanser and the vitamin c serum be safe still? How about vitamin E IU 14000 plus safflower seed oil (its an oil product) ingredients state: carthamus tinctures (safflower) seed oil and tocopherol acetate (vitamin e)?

I’ve been using the derma e line for the past year and it has changed my skin for the better, so I want to make sure I dont let my skin get bad again even though I know my pregnancy is number 1. Thank you so much!!!!

hello! I love the website, it is really well laid pout and easy to search for stuff. The one question I had is that you say you will note why the item is not pregnancy safe but I can’t seem to see where you have written that? Or is it that the ingredient you write next to the product not in bold, is the one that should be avoided?
I am specifically looking at some of the Derma E Acne serums / creams, are the ingredients to avoid Salicylic Acid and Willow Bark (Salicylate)?
The Acne Rebalancing Cream isn’t on here (I think it may be fairly new this summer) but I assume that is one to avoid while pregnant as it’s active ingredient is Salicylic Acid?
    Thanks so much!

    • 10.6.20
      Christine said:

Yes, the ingredient next to each product is the one to avoid. Sometimes people disagree with me and don’t care about Licorice root for example, so if they know I was only worried about licorice root in a product it would be important. I tried to make it pretty obvious for each product.
The acne rebalancing cream may have been released after my last full brand review, but if it has salicylic acid I wouldn’t recommend using it while pregnant.

Also, I’ve used Honest wipes on my babies for years but I just read a comment that you said licorice root was not good while preggo. Is it also not good for babies skin?

Licorice root is fine for babies, though I would be careful with products with many extracts, they tend to cause reactions and babies tend to be very sensitive.

Is it something I should be avoiding while nursing?

Retinoid avoidance in nursing is something that more physicians are recommending now, so I’ve followed suit but it isn’t really based on any new data. It’s one of those things that is based on your comfort level. I didn’t avoid them while nursing (my youngest weaned about 5 years ago), but I do recommend it now just because so many others are.

As listed, both of these are Safe for pregnancy and nursing as long as that’s what is really on your box. I agree it seems like supplies are mixed out there, so I’m purposefully dragging my feet on updating, I’m afraid I would say it was safe and someone would get an old box and it wouldn’t be safe 🙁

I’m now on my 2nd week of embryo transfer thru IVF. I overlooked on my Vit.C brightening cleanser. And been using it to wash my face ever since. But I just usually quickly wash my face. Like I don’t let it soak in my face. Just wash and rinse kind of thing and then dry up. Should I worry?
