Hi. This is amazing that you take the time to do this. I had a bit of a worry this morning when I googled ingredients in Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Face Base as somewhere said it had Retinyl Palmitate in it. But the ingredient list on the US Bobbi Brown site doesn’t mention this so hopefully it’s ok. I’m 10 weeks and have been trying hard to do the right thing!
The ingredients of many products change depending upon the area of the world you’re in. I checked the US Bobbi Brown and US Sephora websites to cross check these ingredient lists, so I’m hoping they’re right!

Can you clarify what chemical sunscreen ingredient is in the lip glosses that you tag as no-nos? I’m reviewing the ingredient list for the 2 listed and not seeing any sunscreen (that I’m aware of at least!), though I do see chemical sunscreens listed in the ingredient list for the lip balm spf 15 which is tagged as safe. Sorry if I’m missing something. Thanks so much!!
They’re only listed under active ingredient if they’re testing for SPF, and then the FDA wants them pulled out like that because they’re considered a drug. But if they’re just using it as a UV stabilizer to increase product shelf life then it is buried in the ingredient list (and note they’ll do this even for products with SPF listed on them, and ones that are labelled only as mineral sunscreens! It’s very frustrating). It’s almost always Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (aka- Octinoxate) for most brands, and that’s what Bobbi Brown uses too. I’d check out Mac for some lipsticks and lip glosses, I feel like they were much less likely to do that when I was reviewing the ingredients.

I just found out that I’m 5 weeks pregnant and I’ve been using this Pura D’or Shampoo that has Willow Bark extract and Saw Palmetto, is that gonna be harmful Doc?
And also, this Nature’s Gate Deodorant that has Licorice root in it, I stopped using those products now, I’m quite worried now, thank you.

They’re mostly pigments added because it is makeup. Something needed to produce the color.
