Oh my God! I’m absolutely in love with your blog. I literally read your lists before buying anything. One thing I do want to ask is if there is any affordable acne medication or spot treatment for pregnant ladies. I’ve been struggling with cystic acne throughout the pregnancy and the doctor prescribed me differin spot treatment. As soon as opened the package the first thing it said was “do not take if pregnant or breastfeeding” and now I don’t know what to do. Thank you!!

Differin I definitely would not take. I have a post on acne during pregnancy that I need to update, but I would check out the acne products from Belli Beauty, which is specially made for pregnancy.

I’ve been using the rosemary mint strengthening oil my entire pregnancy at 11 weeks. Very worried now. Can this hurt my baby?

    Hi,

Thank you so much for your wonderful blog! So amazingly informative!

I am 4 months PP and breastfeeding, and the hair loss is TERRIBLE! I did some research and came across “Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil” as very promising; but then came to cross check with your blog and low and behold it’s not safe while nursing. Any recommendations for an alternate product?

    Thanks so much!!!

I would make sure you’re addressing all forms of breakage, are still taking a prenatal vitamin, and if it seems particularly bad then I would talk to you doctor about having some basic labs checked to look for anemia and look at your thyroid.
Vegamour also has a hair growth serum that isn’t safe for pregnancy but IS safe for nursing 🙂

I bought the Rosemary Mint Strengthening Hair Masque to try while pregnant since I’m unable to try the Oil. Upon further research, I’ve found conflicting information about using rosemary oil while pregnant – mainly that it can cause contractions?

You need a huge amount of rosemary for that to happen, so much that we still let you eat it while pregnant (which is a much bigger exposure than applying to your skin). Some discussion here: ingredients I’m not worried about during pregnancy

I’m curious as to what the retinoid is in the rosemary mint strengthening oil. I keep reading and re-reading the ingredients list and can not locate the retinoid. Please help.

Hello! So glad I came across your site as it has been super helpful. I’ve been re-reading the ingredients on my Mielle Rosemary Mint Hair Strengthening Oil and the retinyl palmitate is not listed on the bottle anywhere. I recently purchased it (September 2022). I see their site says that it contains it, but my bottle does not list this ingredient at all. Should I assume that the ingredients listed on the bottle that I have are correct?

        Hi there!

Knowing retinyl palmitate is not safe for pregnancy, is it safe or unsafe for breastfeeding?

        Thank you so much!!

Thank you for responding! The two bottles I have at home do not have this ingredient. I sent an inquiry to the company, and they confirmed that rosemary mint strengthening oil had been reformulated without Retinyl Palmitate. Would it now be safe?

If it’s not on your bottle then it should be ok I think!

Hey, I’ve see your blog and wanted to confirm is it definitely ok to use the mielle rosemary organic shampoo as you’ve listed it on the safe list during pregnancy. Wanted to know the reason please. Thank you!

I’m not sure I understand your question. There aren’t any questionable ingredients in it. You don’t need to avoid topical rosemary during pregnancy (you’re still allowed to eat it, so topical avoidance makes no sense given the level of exposure).

Hey, thank you for your reply. My question was to ask the reason behind why it would be ok to use the rosemary and mint, shampoo by Mielle. Is the percentage less for
Rosemary and is it ok to use the shampoo several times a week?

It’s so reassuring to see that the Rosemary mint oil is now safe to use. I had been unable to find a clear answer as to whether topical rosemary use is safe in pregnancy (I stopped using a shampoo containing rosemary during my last pregnancy just in case!) but I can see that you clear up in the comments that it is.

If you have time at some point, would you be able to review a range of products by a brand called Hair Syrups please? https://hairsyrup.co.uk/ These are very popular viral brand in the UK, I’m not sure if they’ve made it stateside yet. I have Rapunzel and Growsmary but haven’t used them yet just in case. I know you are US based but think this information would be very helpful to UK expectant mamas. Thanks so much either way ❤️

We still let you eat rosemary while pregnant, which is a whole other level of exposure!
I can add this list to my to do list!
