Amy Marturana has written for Huffington Post, and Prevention Magazine. She’s currently a writer and managing editor at You Beauty. I was able to ask her about her favorite beauty products and tips, she previously spilled the beans on her favorite mascaras and mascara tips!

How do you usually prep lids for shadow?
I swear by Urban Decay Primer Potion. Apply it to clean eyelids before eyeshadow, and your eyeshadow will last all day long. No creasing, no smudge, no oiliness. It comes in different shades too, like a champagne or gold, so you can layer it to complement your shadows.

What are the shades of shadow that you seem to reach for most often?
Neutral tones and shades like copper and gold look great on most eye colors. I usually reach for a light, neutral and slightly shimmery shade to brighten up my eyes a bit.

What are your favorite shadow palettes and why?
Right now, Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 1 (Nudes) is my absolute favorite. It has gold and copper shades, a neutral purple, black, and a gorgeous light highlighting shade. And there’s a mix of matte and shimmer finishes.

Tarte has amazing shadow palettes, too. The shades are usually more toned-down and earthy, and they have a mix of matte and shimmer. Look out for their holiday sets—the palettes are always amazing.
