Drugstore Steal: Wet n Wild Eye Shadows

Wet n Wild Eye Shadow review

Today for Makeup Wars we’re featuring our favorite products from Wet ‘n Wild. While there are some great finds in this drugstore makeup line, such as the bronzer, and Smashbox dupe face primer.

As much as I love those products (Reserve Your Cabana is my bronzer shade, just FYI), my all time favorite Wet ‘n Wild product is actually the very first one I featured in our Makeup Wars posts, the Color Icon eye shadows.

Wet n Wild Nutty Swatch and Review

My favorite shade is Nutty, which comes as an eye shadow single. It is a great dupe for MAC Satin Taupe, though less pigmented. I think this actually makes it easier to work with, and it is one of my favorite shadow colors. I think I’ve gone through 4 or 5 of this shadow.

FYI, they recently “revamped” this shadow, and it is now labelled as “new” on the packaging. I can’t tell the difference between the old and new shades. I wore swatches of both on my arm and checked it out in a ton of different lights. I thought sometimes in low light I could convince myself that they were slightly different. To me, they apply the same and have the same consistency and wear. Otherwise the only difference is that the new version is smooth in the palette rather than having an embossed emblem.

Wet n Wild Rosé in the Air Swatch and Review

The Color Icon palettes are also pretty amazing, especially for the price. These shadows are pretty well pigmented and blend well with great shades.

The Comfort Zone palette has long been an online favorite, but last year they released Rosé in the Air, which has a lot of shades similar to the Anastasia Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette. Katie has a great post comparing the Wet n Wild palette to Anastasia palette, and she has concluded that they are dupes.

As someone that has both palettes, I can tell you the shades are very similar, the Anastasia is slightly easier to work with and has more shades. But there is a big difference in price between the two palettes, so the Wet ‘n Wild is a great starting point.

What is your favorite Wet ‘n Wild product? Their price point makes any product a real steal!

Nutty is definitely my favorite as well, and I agree completely hat the difference between the old and reformulated versions is negligible. The real difference, as you said, is the embossed (old) versus the smooth (new, reformulated) surfaces. Plus, you really can’t beat .99 for a taupe shadow that is a good dupe for the iconic Satin Taupe!

It really is! I actually like the WnW a bit more, I feel like it is slightly less pigmented and easier to work with because of that.

Rose totally resembles Modern Renaissance! I love the colors… I think this will be my next WnW buy!

My daughter picked up the Color Icon palette with the peach/red shades and loves it. No fallout, super creamy, highly pigmented. Can’t go wrong for $6.99! My fave WnW so far is their Ultimate Brow Retractable pencil. It has a spoolie and comes in Ash Brown. The only other drugstore brow pencil in that shade is NYX and WnW is half the price!
