Pregnancy Safe Products from MoroccanOil

Pregnancy Safe Products from MoroccanOil

Pregnancy safe beauty products can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products.

Here you’ll find pregnancy safe products from MoroccanOil as of 12/14/2021. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

Don’t See Your Product? Read This Before You Ask About It…

Please read the Pregnancy Beauty Guide intro first, where you will learn which products you actually need to worry about (spoiler alert, you don’t need to worry about all makeup or hair products). I will not review products that fall into the “don’t worry about it” categories. If you want to ask about a specific product, I require that you follow these guidelines for asking about pregnancy/nursing safety. You can also learn more about how to use these pregnancy safety lists. I will delete questions that don’t follow the guidelines or are rude.

    Hi Dr. Christine,
I’m struggling with kerotosis pilaris that’s gotten much worse during pregnancy. I read about Morrocan Oil the hair treatment being a miracle help for KP when a few drops are added to a bath or applied to the skin. Do you think this is safe during pregnancy?

    Ingredients:
Argan Oil: Extremely rich in tocopherols (vitamin E), essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that hydrate and nourish the hair.
-Linseed Extract: Derived from flaxseed, a good source of alpha linolenic acid; an essential fatty acid that helps improve the health of hair.
-Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Fragrance, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, CI 26100 (Red 17), CI 47000 (Yellow 11).

It’s pregnancy safe, but I have real doubts it would clear up KP. Much more likely to be helpful with some slightly dry skin, but it’s mostly silicones. But it won’t hurt anything!

It’s fine, but remember it’s a mask, very similar to a conditioner. You shouldn’t be applying next to your scalp, it will weigh your hair down. And since it’s not next to your scalp, you don’t need to worry about it.

      • 3.3.21
        Nicole cooper said:

I’m sorry doctor I’m a bit confused, as you know the mask will obviously get in contact with my scalp since my hair is super dry and don’t get me started on my roots hehehehe, not gonna lie to you Doctor but i do apply the mask from root to the end of my hair, is that a problem? I mean you said it’s fine then you recommend that the product shouldn’t get in contact with the roots and that’s what confused me. Thank you so much 🥰❤️

        • 3.3.21
          Christine said:

It’s not usually recommended to apply hair masks from the roots, it’s usually similar to conditioner, which is apply mid-shaft and down. Application to the roots typically weighs the hair down due to ingredients left on the hair, unless the product is formulated to be used this way (many are not, check the directions). There are other hydrating products that might help more without weighing down the hair, such as Darshana.

Thank you so much for your quick and precise reply, my main concern is not about my hair being weighed down cuz i have super frizzy dry hair and kinda need my hair to be tamed. My main concern actually is on the chemical formula of the mask, if let’s say some product stays on my hair or gets absorbed by the scalp, would that be a cause of concern for pregnancy or is it safe overall if ever let’s say some ingredients get absorbed into my body. I hope i have been clear and im sorry if i have confused you in a way or another
you’re a saint for doing this for all of us out there .Thank you so much for your help i truly appreciate cuz I’m on panic mode now if you know what i mean. 🌹🥰❤️

            Christine said:

Yes, and I responded that the formulation of this product is fine for pregnancy and nursing. However, most people do NOT apply near their scalp. The product is not meant to be used that way.

However, many people still ask me to screen products that have no way of being absorbed into their body (because your hair can’t absorb anything) because they are in that panic mode. I’m saying that if you’re not using the product on your scalp you don’t need to worry about it. And if you’re finding a lot of this to be highly anxiety provoking, I would discuss with your physician. Postpartum anxiety is very common, but it doesn’t only need to start postpartum, it also starts while you’re still pregnant. And I see that in my readers who continually insist on having me spend a lot of time screening products that can’t be absorbed, such as mascaras or hair products that don’t come anywhere near the scalp.
