Yes, I still answer questions about product safety! You must follow these guidelines. Any rude comments or those not following the guidelines will be removed. This means full product name, ingredient list, and each product must either be on the proper brand page or the brand list page. I won't accept comments in the wrong spot.

So it actually isn’t listed in the ingredients list, just on the “key ingredients”, which in my experience isn’t always correct. I’ll reach out to them and see!

I emailed and already heard back! This was a fantastic response, I’m very pleased with Renée Rouleau! This was Polina, their lead customer service rep, she’s also an esthetician. Great to know that if you email them you’ll get great advice from an esthetician as well 🙂

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I did some investigating and spoke with our lab in regards to the ingredients in our Total Eye Repair Creme and it looks like it was listed on our product page by mistake. I’m currently working with our web team to correct this!

We pride ourselves on providing others with transparent information about what is in our skincare products, so we apologize for any confusion that this may have caused. Please let us know if you have any further questions. As always, we are here to help!

So, it looks like the licorice root was mistakenly listed under the key ingredients. It can stay under the “pregnancy safe” category!

Hello, I appreciate how you’ve put all of this together! I’ve been referring to it quite a bit. However, I am a bit confused. On their website in the FAQs section, it’ll say if it’s pregnancy safe. For example, the Vitamin-Infused Cleansing Emulsion, Vitamin C Eye Brightener, and the Ultra Gentle Smoothing Serum. I bought these in the beginning of my pregnancy due to them having this info on their website. Can you clarify why they would be so sure that something is safe if you’re staying it’s not? Thank you!

The studies we need to perform to know if these things are actually safe are unethical to perform. So we make assumptions and sometimes extrapolate from other types of studies, or from studies in animals. My list is pretty conservative, but mostly based upon what I’ve read in the medical literature (I’m a pediatrician, we get training in what is ok during nursing, the same books also list what is fine while pregnant and it’s the same process. OB gets the same training). There’s some more in depth discussion about this in this post: pregnancy beauty FAQ

      These are the full ingredients:

Water, Cetyl Alcohol (non-drying thickener), Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Polyglyceryl-3 Stearate, Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Diethylhexyl Succinate, Octyldodecanol, Tocopheryl Linoleate/Oleate, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract (Red Marine Algae), Tocopherol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Extract, Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Fruit/Leaf Extract, Cupressus Sempervirens Leaf/Stem Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Plumeria Rubra Flower Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Rose Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol (water-binding humectant), Sodium Benzoate, Chlorphenesin, Ethylhexylglycerin (skin conditioner) , Polysorbate 80, Behenyl Alcohol, Cetyl Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Isohexadecane, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer (mild stabilizer)

The retinoid is the Retinyl Palmitate, which is in the full ingredients but NOT the list of “key ingredients” they chose to call out.

Why does X Brand say this product is safe but you don’t think it is safe? (or Vice Versa)
