Pregnancy safe skincare can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.
Here you’ll find every pregnancy safe skincare product from Perricone MD as of 4/12/2019. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. If they release a new product that is not listed here, please comment below and I will add it. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.
How to Request a Product Review
I try to review all of the products that I can when I publish a list. Note, I am in the US and I only have access to US products. Please don’t be rude if I skipped your favorite cleanser, when items are out of stock sometimes they aren’t on the brand’s site, or maybe you are in Asia and I am in the US.
I reserve the comments on each post for reviews of product from that brand, this makes it easier for others to find products later. Please only ask about Perricone MD on this post, I will delete other product questions. You can find other brands here. If your brand is not included, please ask on the brand list post.

Hi Doctor,
I have Perricone MD, Cocoa Moisture Mask (2 fl oz.). Would you please let me know if it’s safe for pregnancy use?
Water/Aqua/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Isopropyl Myristate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Polysorbate 60, Mannitol, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Cellulose, Tocopheryl Acetate, Dimethyl MEA, Hydroxyacetophenone, Squalane, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Tyrosine, Papain, Bromelain, Ethylhexylglycerin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Sodium Benzotriazolyl Butylphenol Sulfonate, Aminomethyl Propanol, Maltodextrin, Ceteareth-20, Buteth-3, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Propylene Glycol, Acrylates Copolymer, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Lauryl Glucoside, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Tributyl Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance/Parfum, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Barium Sulfate, Caramel, Silica, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate.
Thank you!
This looks ok
Hi doctor,
First, thank you so much for your blog!
Quick question, I went out and bought the Photo-Brightening Moisturizer SPF 30 before reading your blog. I know your list says chemical sunscreen, but on the box it says titanium dioxide, which I thought was a mineral sunscreen? Any chance you can help? I’m confused. Thank you in advance 🙂 Here’s the full list of ingredients:
Active Ingredient:
Titanium Dioxide 4.2%
Inactive Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Pentylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene, Polyester-8, Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Benzyl Alcohol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Isohexadecane, Bisabolol, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Polysilicone-11, Polysorbate 60, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Benzoate. Potassium Sorbate, Xanthan Gum, Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine, Thioctic Acid, Astaxanthin
The issue here is the Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene, which is a slight variation of octinoxinate (ehtlyhexyl methoxycinnamate). The tricky thing is that they list the ingredients under active which are currently being used as sunscreens, but sometimes you’ll find chemical sunscreens not listed there, they can also act as photostabilizers and improve the life of products. That’s why it is here. I’ve even found them listed in night serums, the last place you’d think you need a sunscreen. Sorry!
Just wanted to let you know that in your Pregnancy Safe Daily Moisturizers with SPF post (https://www.15minutebeauty.com/spf-moisturizers-pregnancy-safe.html#comment-15425) Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Photo-Brightening Moisturizer SPF 30 is listed to be safe for pregnancy. However in the post above it is safe for nursing but not for pregnancy due to chemical sunscreens.
Just wanted to let you know so that you won’t have to answer additional questions about the posts.
Thanks for your hard work! Your blog has been an amazing resource.
Ugh…. I’m at the mercy of online ingredient lists, so there must have been a change in listings in between the 2 posts (I think the Perricone was done a couple of months after the daily moisturizer one). And there are now sooooo many different lists for this product! I just looked at Sephora, Dermstore, ULTA and Perricone’s site, they are all different. Which is very rare but annoying too. I’m going to go with the Perricone site’s list, which is with the chemical sunscreen and ok for nursing but not pregnancy, so I fixed the other post. Thank you for noticing that!!
I was wondering about the Perricone Face Finishing Moisturizer. I noticed you have the Face finishing Moisturizer and Firming Cream listed, the one I have does not include the firming cream. The ingredients are the following:
Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui Nut) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polyacrylamide, Polysorbate 60, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethyl MEA (DMAE), C13-14 Isoparaffin, Citric Acid, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C Ester), L-Tyrosine, Parfum (Fragrance), Laureth-7, Hexylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Thioctic Acid (Alpha Lipoic Acid), Hydroxycitronellal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Benzoate, Eugenol
I went to two different sites and they have different ingredients listed for this product.
Thank you.
Isn’t it amazing how brands name things so similarly even though they are just slightly different? This one looks ok to me, hopefully the ingredients match up to what the product actually is
Hi! Thanks for this list its amazing. I have a question about Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Photo Brightening Moisturizer. Up above you say it is not safe because of a chemical sunscreen. I have a jar and it says the active ingredient is Titanium Dioxide. I thought that was considered a safe sun screen during pregnancy. It’s the same as my Bare Minerals foundation which is listed as safe. Is there something else in the product not listed as active?? Thanks!
Brands don’t always list every sunscreen under “active” if they aren’t using that ingredient to achieve the proper SPF value. In this case it is the Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene, which is one of the most commonly used ingredients for this. It will photostabilize the product for a longer shelf life, but that’s not helpful if you’re trying to avoid all chemical sunscreens.
This blog is an amazing service to all women! Thank you!! I use the PRE:EMPT series exfoliating pore refiner daily and I was wondering why it is included on the not-safe list? What are the risks? Thank you!!
Also I didn’t see PTR’s Peptide 21 on your PTR list. Is that safe for pregnancy? Thank you so much!!
Do you have an ingredient list for Peptide 21? It likely wasn’t on the website I reviewed.
The exfoliating pore refiner has a salicylate, it’s on the list below under safe for nursing but not pregnancy.
Water, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Olive Oil Decylesters, Glycereth-26, Squalane, Butylene Glycol, Behenyl Alcohol, Polysilicone-11, Batyl Alcohol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Hexapeptide-11, Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Tripeptide-10 Citrulline, Acetyl Hexapeptide-1, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-11, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-9, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2, Acetyl Octapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-19, Trifluoroacetyl Tripeptide-2, Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Potassium Hydrolyzed Polygamma-Glutamate, Sodium Polyglutamate, Squalene, Mica (Ci 77019), Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbic Acid, Tocopherol, Cereus Grandiflorus (Cactus) Flower Extract, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Magnesium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Trehalose, Glyceryl Stearate, Silanetriol Trehalose Ether, Mannitol, Phytosterols, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Polysorbate 20, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Laureth-12, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Lecithin, Disodium Phosphate, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Carbomer, Dextran, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Lactate, Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate, Sodium Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Triethanolamine, Acrylates Copolymer.
Thank you!!!!!
Looks ok

Hello. I wanted to see if the Perricone MD Hypoallergenic CBD Sensitive Skin Therapy Nourishing & Calming Moisturizer is ok to use while nursing. The ingredients are:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Betaine, Coco-Caprylate, Triethylhexanoin, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Calendula Ocinalis Flower Extract, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Ceteareth-30, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Cannabidiol, Bisabolol, Lecithin, Ceramide NP, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Tocopherol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Decyl, Gluco.
This has the CBD, cannabidiol and licorice root. Definitely avoid in pregnancy
Here’s my little blurb about the cannabis related ingredients. That’s up to you, but I typically recommend avoiding in pregnancy and nursing as there are unknown issues and many alternative products:
There isn’t info out there on the safety of Cannabis used topically during pregnancy or nursing. We do know smoking marijuana with THC has bad effects and should be avoided, though it hasn’t been fully decided if it is just the THC or something else as well.
Note that in theory Hemp and CBD do not have THC in them, it’s breed out of the plant is the official status. However, depending upon how it was processed many CBD oils will test positive for THC. But there are still the unknowns we haven’t decided about. I would not recommend using Hemp or Cannabis products while nursing or pregnant for that reason.

Hi – I was just wonder if the High Potency Face Finishing & Firming Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 is now okay since it says mineral based sunscreen?
Unfortunately, that’s not new. It still has Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene, which is a chemical sunscreen.
Thank you for the quick reply!
So glad i found your site! Should i be worried if I used one of the non pregnancy safe ones once? I am 6 weeks and I have to change my brain around to understand everything i use could be harmful! is this unsafe with continued exposure? or should i worry because i used it once.
Discussion here: You’ve been using a product with a “bad” ingredient
