Pregnancy Safe Products from Guinot

Pregnancy Safe Products from Guinot

Pregnancy safe beauty products can be super difficult and confusing. I have an entire guide devoted to what products are safe to use while pregnant including information on what ingredients to avoid while pregnant and a huge list of pregnancy safe skincare products. The list has gotten so large that I’ve decided to start listing brands in their own individual posts.

Here you’ll find pregnancy safe products from   as of 5/7/2020. If it is not safe, I’ll tell you why. All of the products meet my pregnancy safe criteria. If they release a new product that is not listed here, please comment below and I will add it. Note I will link to every product directly to avoid confusion. You’ll know exactly which product I mean.

Don’t See Your Product? Read This Before You Ask About It…

Please read the Pregnancy Beauty Guide intro first, where you will learn which products you actually need to worry about (spoiler alert, you don’t need to worry about all makeup or hair products). I will not review products that fall into the “don’t worry about it” categories. If you want to ask about a specific product, I require that you follow these guidelines for asking about pregnancy/nursing safety. You can also learn more about how to use these pregnancy safety lists. I will delete questions that don’t follow the guidelines or are rude.

Not Safe for Pregnancy or Nursing

Note I’m including products with retinoids here, as those are a bit iffy. It depends on how conservative you want to be while nursing (still absolutely contraindicated while pregnant). Refer to my post on ingredients to avoid while nursing for more discussion.

There isn’t info out there on the safety of Cannabis used topically during pregnancy or nursing. We do know smoking marijuana with THC has bad effects and should be avoided, though it hasn’t been fully decided if it is just the THC or something else as well.
Note that in theory Hemp and CBD do not have THC in them, it’s breed out of the plant is the official status. However, depending upon how it was processed many CBD oils will test positive for THC. But there are still the unknowns we haven’t decided about. I would not recommend using Hemp or Cannabis products while nursing or pregnant for that reason.

Hi! Thank you for this list of Guinot products, so helpful to have a list by brand! I only use their skincare line and am newly pregnant and trying to figure out what I can continue and what I have to cut out!
Do you know if it is safe to use: Lift Summum cream, the Anti-Fatigue Eye Mask, and the Hydra Fraicheur cleansing milk and toning lotion?
    Thanks so much!

Hi! Thank you for the awesome reviews, I swear by them. You have included Beaute Neuve Radiance Renewal Cream in the safe for pregnancy section – I have it at home and it lists Vitamin A as well as these as the main ingredients: Malic Acid, Peptides, Dimethicone, Vitamin A, Lactic Acid, Vitamin E, Titanium Dioxide, Antioxidants, Vitamin C, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Glycolic Acid.

    I have also added the full list of ingredients below;
Water/Eau (Aqua), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Polydecene, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Pentylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-75 Stearate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Fragrance (Parfum), Mica, Ceteth-20, Cyclohexasiloxane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Steareth-20, Silica, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, PEG-8, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Sodium Lactate, Limonene, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide.

Please kindly let me know if in your opinion it is still okay to use. Thank you so much!

Notice that the “main ingredients” don’t actually appear at all in the full ingredients… I go by what is actually in the product. Sometimes they’re calling out things found in extracts (which don’t count for pregnancy safety due to being such small amounts), and sometimes they’re just flat out wrong. Often copied over from a template incorrectly. The titanium dioxide for example isn’t found in an extract, it’s a mineral sunscreen. And it isn’t found anywhere in the full ingredient list. If your product matches what is listed as the full ingredient list it is safe for pregnancy and nursing.

Thank you so much for your website, I visit it very often when try to ensure a product is safe when pregnant or breastfeeding.
I love Guinot products and appreciate your review of the ingredients. I noticed that Beaute Neuve radiance cream is listed as safe for pregnancy but the ingredients include Retinyl Acetate. Do you think it’s similar to Retinoids? Or is Retinly Acetate safe to use when pregnant? The list of the ingredients can be found on organicskincare website. Thank you!

The product I linked to (note, this was 2 years ago) no longer appears on the Dermstore website. Per the Lovely Skin website, these are the full ingredients, which have no retinoid. I trust Lovely Skin, as I know the dermatologist that owns it and it is very frequently updated. But I don’t know the Organic Skincare website you’ve mentioned. The brand itself doesn’t have ingredients available.
