Poolside Beauty with Sephora

pool beauty picks

Once the summer weather starts in Michigan, my family spends as much time outside as possible! For us, that means a lot of time in our backyard pool. We avoid peak sun times, slather up in sunscreen, have shade galore and our pool is a salt water pool instead of a traditional chlorine pool. But, there are still post-pool day issues like pool water hair, dry hair, dry skin… you know what I mean!

I thought a look at what products I use for a day in the pool might be useful. As usual, I was able to buy all of these in a #SephoraHaul, when I was also stocking up on my family’s favorite sunscreen! I love that as a member of the Beauty Insider Program (I have Rouge status) I can earn points on all of my purchases. The Rewards Bazaar is one of my favorite things about Sephora, I love getting deluxe samples that are just right for travel or trying out something new without committing to a full size product. I’ve also been using the buy online pick up in store and same day delivery options lately.

I’m becoming a bit more minimalist in my poolside beauty. I used to use a waterproof mascara and concealer on pool days, but I skip those now at home. I do still use them when on vacation and around others at the pool! Otherwise, I rely on my big sunglasses, a little blush, lightly tinted balm and a lot of sunscreen!

Sunscreen

I usually use a combination of 2 sunscreens, Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen and Kiehl’s Super Fluid Daily UV Defense. The Kiehl’s is my family’s favorite sunscreen (my kids actually use it on their bodies). It’s lightweight, doesn’t feel sticky and rubs in quickly. The Supergoop! is very similar, but I think it is a tad better under makeup for me. Things blend a little easier, so I don’t need to wash everything off and start over if I decide to add makeup over the top.

Lips

A little hydration and color can go a long way by the pool! My girls and I have become a tad obsessed with the Summer Fridays
Lip Butter Balms. They feel great, have a very light tint (I sometimes layer mine over a little of the Fenty cream blush below), and aren’t sticky at all. There’s also a little bit of flavor. My current favorite is also the newest, Iced Coffee! It tastes just like a sweet iced coffee, and has a very light nude tint. My girls both prefer Pink Sugar, which is currently “the” cool lippie in my local middle school.

Face

I only bother with much face makeup for a pool day when we’re out of town. Strategically placed IT Cosmetics
Bye Bye Under Eye (under my eyes and around the nose), Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara and Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush. I often will pat a little of the blush (in Petal Poppin) on to my lips, then add a little of the Summer Fridays balm on top. I usually still use the blush even at home, just for a little color since I easily look too washed out otherwise. I love that this blush blends easily, offers good color pay off and can survive heat and humidity for hours!
