I have been using the Babo botanicals fragrance free daily Hyde lotion periodically through my pregnancy when my skin is extra dry. It’s what I’ve been using recently for my kids as well. I know you reviewed it as safe while pregnant but I wanted to see what your stance is on the natural extracts/essential oils in these kind of natural/clean products. A lot of what I read online says to steer clear of most essential oils and herbs because there are no test studies on pregnant women. Things like Kudzu root extract (listed ingredient) have no Data research on them. I just don’t want to trade one bad thing for possibly another. Thank you for your time!

I think it’s fine, as do all of the OBs I’ve talked to about the extracts/oils. I wouldn’t go and take a bath in a straight extract, but that causes issues for anyone. There’s some discussion in here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy

Just wash your hands afterwards. Soaps are sometimes formulated to leave some “active” ingredients behind, so I would make sure the soap is safe.

Hello, had a question on possible misrepresentation of Babo Botanicals sunscreen products, listed twice:

Not Safe for Pregnancy, Ok for Nursing
    • Clear Zinc Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 – Fragrance Free (at The Detox Market): Salicylate

Not Safe for Pregnancy or Nursing
    • Clear Zinc Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 – Fragrance Free: Hemp

I don’t see hemp nor Salicylate for that sunscreen – are you sure of the exact product name and containing these harmful ingredients?

    Thanks!

    • 7.25.21
      Christine said:

The salicylate (Butyloctyl Salicylate) is ingredient #6 in the lotion. In the Stick the Hemp is the Cannabis Sativa seed oil. I very purposefully link directly to the product I’m discussing as sometimes brands and retailers will use different names for the same product. Both of those are accurate.

this lotion also has a glycerin, which said unsafe during pregnancy , if it’s synthetic glycerin. And FDA says the glycerin is category C , so I am so confused this …
How I can to know which exactly glycerin was used there , and maybe you know something about “ using glycerin during pregnancy” ?

THANK YOU so much for doing this. My question is about ALOE VERA and perhaps other natural ingredients (essential oil/herbs) in babies lotion and body wash. I like to get BABO BOTANICALS and they have yarrow and aloe vera. I will breastfeed my newborn son and I wonder if these: ALOE and YARROW (and what other plant ingredients) are SAFE to use by breastfeeding moms and won’t affect lactation or the baby?
Thank you again for helping mothers like me.
