Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette: A Must Have

Urban Decay Naked Basics Tutorial

So yeah, have you heard about the new matte palette from Urban Decay? It’s full of basics. Yes, indeed. That’s why they call it the Naked Basics. Funny how that worked out.

I fully realize that is likely the most unexciting palette picture that I will ever post. But, hey! I spiced it up a tad by adding the UD logo and a little blurb for you to know that this is a very important palette.

Because really, these are the shades that everyone always seems to run out of first in a palette, right? The boring, basic shades that you suddenly find yourself reaching for over and over. That when you hit pan, you start to cringe, because what will you wear over your lid with every other shadow that you own?

All of the shadows are matte, except for that Venus on the far left, which has just a very faint shimmer. It makes it just the perfect highlighter for your brow bone. The rest of the colors are the basic ones that every one needs.

My friend Aprill from Gliter.Gloss.Garbage also swatched this palette, on both herself and her mom. If you have a darker skin tone and were a bit unsure about this palette, you need to go and check out her Urban Decay Naked Basics swatches. She declared this palette “Black Girl Friendly”, so it’s worth checking out no matter what your skin tone is!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette Size, how big is it?

The palette is a decent size for 6 shadows, but still a little on the compact side. This makes it great for travel!

Urban Decay Naked Basics easy and fast tutorial for an everyday eye look

Finally, I wanted to share how I’ve been using this palette the most. This is a great, quick and dirty every day eye look. 3 shadows, but they’re all right there and it literally takes 2 minutes. Maybe 3 if you use 2 liners like I did.

You can buy this palette at Urban Decay, Nordstrom or ULTA.

I agree that these are must have colors in your make up kit. Too many shadows out there have a shimmer or sparkle in them and it is hard to find a good matte color that indeed looks natural when you apply it. This is especially important for those of us over forty. I have both Naked and Naked 2 and I can see the need for this one in addition to those. I have fair skin and a lot of the other palettes have colors that are too dark to look natural on me so this one is going to be just right! I'm thinking a trip to Ulta is much needed today. Thanks for the swatches!

I'm like Kelly — I need to use up a few eyeshadows I have before getting this. I adore how compact and CUTE this lil' guy is. šŸ™‚

Does it look just tooooo matt on a mature woman's eye's? Is there another palette that is of a lighter texture? or is this one the perfect one for me to get?

I don't think it's too matte, if anything I think too much sparkle is a problem with a more mature eye. The lighter colors are VERY light, check it out in person but it's pretty perfect. šŸ˜€

I'm a bit late on this post, but I bought this palette on mid-December, and I haven't used anything else since. I LOVE it. There are so many ways to use the colors. I'm 52, and trying to find good matte eyeshadows is so difficult. Yes, shimmery colors just emphasize any crepey skin around the eyes. The shadows are going to last forever too. I've been using it almost everyday for the last three and half months, and the pans still mostly full.

I am 50 and fair complected and this is the ONLY palette I own! It looks natural and so easy to blend the colors. Totally fool proof. Buy it, you won't regret it! Get the MAC 224 blending brush to use with it–perfection!
