Today Amy is sharing her beauty editor drugstore favorites! They’re great products at any price point, but being so affordable makes them even better. Best drugstore mascara is L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza. The brush, similarly to Benefit’s, is like a mini comb that keeps lashes long, separated, and clump-free. I also love Simple’s new Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes– they’re gentle and work on both the face and eyes (regular, not waterproof makeup). The best drugstore foundation is L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable Makeup. It’s super blendable and really does match a huge variety of skintones. How do you prep skin for foundation? My absolute favorite primer is Dermalogica Age Smart Skinperfect Primer. It goes on super smooth and matte, and has SPF 30. Many days I wear it by itself, with no other makeup on top. Favorite drugstore foundation? L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable Makeup. It’s super blendable and really does match a huge variety of skintones. Favorite higher end foundation? Giorgio Armani Luminessence CC Color Control. It’s a great fuller coverage foundation, with SPF 35, so sometimes I just use it as my moisturizer in the morning to get both benefits in one fell swoop. It comes in different shades too, like a champagne or gold, so you can layer it to complement your shadows. What are the shades of shadow that you seem to reach for most often? Benefit They’re Real– The comb makes it so easy to add volume and length to lashes without any clumps. Too Faced Better Than Sex– Best volumizing mascara. The sturdy, fibrous brush allows you to get a lot of product in one swipe, and the hourglass-shaped brush helps balance out the application. Best drugstore is L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza. I’ve already shared by blogging friends’ favorite foundations and favorite BB and CC creams, today I’m sharing their favorite drugstore foundations. The drugstore foundations of 2014 are not the foundations of 10 or even 5 years ago. Technology is advancing, prices are dropping, and the quality of today’s foundations really are much more similar to higher end products than they ever have been in the past. You no longer “have” to splurge on a higher end foundation to get a great product that matches your skin. I’ve included a few extra BB creams, though there are some great drugstore BB Cream picks in the BB & CC Cream post too. “I normally turn my nose up at drugstore foundations.
