Have you noticed the huge number of Dead Sea Salt products on the market? There are a lot of products out there that contain these magnesium rich salts, and while they sound expensive and pampering, there really is good science behind using these products.
It turns out that Dead Sea Salts are not the same as your every day NaCl table salt. Instead, they are rich in Magnesium Chloride as well as other salts of calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc and strontium. These salts really do work differently on your skin, they help your skin maintain hydration, decrease inflammation and improve barrier function in your skin. Basically, it helps your skin deal with insults (1, 2, 3). The benefits are published in skin diseases like atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and photo aged, UV damaged skin.
While there are a lot of expensive skin and hair care lines out there with Dead Sea salts in them, you don't need to spend that much money! Suave Professionals has a new Sea Mineral Infusion line. I tried it out yesterday while the girls were napping, and I'm happy to say that the body products were just as great as the products I've used from Ahava. I used the Suave Professionals Sea Mineral Infusion Exfoliating Body Wash, which is actually proven to smooth skin as well as Ahava Dead Sea Mud Exfoliator.
It has a great sea inspired scent, and it does help to exfoliate my skin. The scent is one of those refreshing, wake you up scents, perfect for me in the morning! I followed it up with Suave Professionals Sea Mineral Infusion Body Lotion.
Because the Suave Professionals products have been salon proven to work as well as Bumble and bumble. Surf products, I thought they were perfect for the loose curls that I've been obsessing over every day. Note that I've been getting this look with much more expensive products (**cough, cough*** Kerastase....), and I've found that having a good salt spray is really the key for my hair keeping the curl but not having to use so much stiff hair spray to keep the curl.
I used all three of the Suave Professionals styling products in my hair. I started with Luxe Style Infusion Curl Defining Mousse, which I applied from the roots to the tips of my hair. It offers touchable hold, so I won't need hair spray later on! Next I spritzed Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Weightless Blow Dry Spray throughout my hair. Finally I sprayed Sea Mineral Infusion Texturizing Sea Salt Spray throughout my hair, concentrating mid-shaft and below. I then dried my hair roughly with my fingers and finished it off with a paddle brush. This was a quick blow dry to get my hair ready to style, I didn't concentrate on getting it to look perfect.
Once my hair was dry I sectioned it off into 2 main sections and curled it with large, loose curls with my T3 360 Twirl curling iron. You can see the results below, I do think that the results were just as great as when I use the more expensive products!
Do you want to try Suave Professionals Sea Mineral Infusions for yourself? You can find them with the product locator or buy them at WalMart or Walgreens!
