A Little Mod in a Flash: Rimmel Mod

easy mod eye tutorial

Have you checked out the Rimmel London Instagram and the Rimmel Tumblr account lately? They've gone a bit mod this month, I think in celebration of their new mascara, Retro Glam Mascara. They asked me to share in the fun, so I thought it would only be appropriate to share a quick mod inspired eye look, which I created in under 5 minutes!

I took a quick selfie and a few pictures of my eyes before running out for errands. It is a little hard to tell from the picture, but there's a bit of a cat eye there that brings some mod into my quick look.

pretty gold-bronze smoky eye

Here's a closer look at the eyes, you can see the cat eye liner, but I think really this look is all about the super pretty bronze-gold shadows! I used Rimmel's ScandalEyes Shadow Paints for this look, and my only complaint is that Rimmel needs to make about 20 more colors of these shadows! They're a thick liquid, and highly pigmented. There's a doe foot applicator in the tube, I find they work best by dotting the shadow on my lid and then spreading it around with a shadow brush. It dries in about a minute, and once it does that shadow does. not. move. And it looks amazing!

how to get the look of a gold smoky eye

To get the look, I started with 1 Shadow Paint in Golden Bronze, which I applied over my entire mobile lid. Next I used 2 Shadow Paint in Rich Russet over the outer corner and a bit into the crease. Wait for the first color to dry before applying the 2nd, otherwise they'll just become muddy when you blend.

Next I used 3 Waterproof Kohl Kajal liner in black, really pressing it down into my lash line, I made sure to go to the end of my eye, but I did not attempt the cat eye yet. I curled my lashes and applied the 4 Retro Glam Mascara, which almost makes my lashes look like falsies! There's a lot of volume and length in that mascara. Applying it before the cat eye makes it a lot easier to tell where the eye liner should be.

Finally, I applied the little flick of liner for the cat eye! I used the edge of a card to make sure my liner is straight and the line doesn't wobble. While holding the card up between the corner of my eye and the end of my brow, I used 5 Thick and Thin Eyeliner to draw in the flick.

It's a bit of an updated mod look. What do you think? Would you wear a little cat eye when out running errands? The girl that checked me out at Whole Foods liked it!

I super love the colors! I'm very curious about the Thick and Thin Eyeliner. Is it felt tip?
