What the heck is a hair washing brush? Isn't brushing wet hair bad for it? Wide tooth combs only, right? Also, how do you detangle the top half of your hair if you only condition from the halfway point to the ends? I see that advice all the time and I can't figure it out.

There are brushes to use to rub on your scalp to really get down in there. I have one, and I do think it can be helpful, esp if you have super thick hair, but for most people it doesn't help. Really, your hair shouldn't be tangled when you start (brush before you wash), it's really hard to not over condition the roots of your hair, if you apply to the midshaft down you'll have a LOT more volume. Really! I don't think I've conditioned my hair above my chin (except for the areas I totally fried with my curling iron about 2 years ago, when they were fried) in about 10 years.
