Kiehl's in Michigan: I check out the new Somerset Store!

kiehl's michigan
Yesterday I shared with you my favorite Kiehl's products, and told you that I was really excited to head to a store opening here, in Michigan! I thought I'd share those pictures today.

You can see that this is actually a fairly large store. It has every product Kiehl's carries, and a staff that is trained on all of them in case you have any questions. I love that rather than just stuffing their products in a boring blank store, they really worked hard to infuse the space with the Kiehl's personality. See Mr. Bones in the window? And it just isn't Kiehl's without a motorcycle!

One of the highlights of yesterday was getting to meet Chris Salgardo, Kiehl's President. Chris has worked for a few other companies in the high end skin care company, but really I think the man was born to lead Kiehl's. He is very approachable and friendly, knows the product line inside and out (he was recommending it to friends and family when he worked at other brands) and he even has the motorcycle connection.

I asked Chris about his current product recommendations. Chris said that the biggest thing for early fall is recovering from the sins of the summer! We spent time outside, in the sun... and that tan that is quickly fading? "It's really just a sign of damage. You need to use products to help your skin recover. Gentle products that are very hydrating, and prevent further damage."

In particular Chris recommended the new Rosa Arctica Lightweight Cream and Rosa Arctica Eye. He loves that they are so hydrating for relatively light formulas, which you can even use in the morning. Both increase collagen and elastin production, which is great for restoring volume and fighting aging!

To help fight further sun damage, Chris recommends Super Fluid UV Defense 50+, which offers full broad spectrum coverage and is light enough to wear everyday.

To go along with those products, I want to recommend both Ultra Facial Cleanser and Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

Ultra Facial is a great basics line (my beloved daily am moisturizer is the Ultra Facial SPF 15), and the cleanser removes everything, offers a little hydration and is very gentle. Absolutely does not overstrip your face, cause redness or irritation.

Unless you have a face as dry as the Sahara, then you wouldn't be using Midnight Recovery everyday. For me (with my combination skin), this is a once a week or so in the winter product. I also travel with it, since the dry air of an airplane just makes me super dry and peely. I asked Chris about it, and he said "it really is great. While an oil might be intimidating, all you need is 2 drops, spread it around, and you're set."

What are your must have Kiehl's products? Let me know!

Isn't Somerset great?? I love this mall. It makes the move away from South Coast Plaza much easier to deal with!

Love Kiehl's--they do things right and their philanthropy is impressive! You will love the new Rosa Arctica lightweight for combo skin and the eye balm IS the bomb!

Your pictures are great. Maybe it's good that I didn't bring my little point and shoot. I'm sending my readers over here in my upcoming review.

The store is terrific, it's laid out perfectly, it's clean, and it invites you to spend!!!

I like their essentials based on skin oil solutions. One product that is worth of rave is their moroccan oil for men and women that are formulated differently.
