Kiehl's Mr Bones, Charity and a Contest!Monday, June 04, 2012
I have to share this with you! Yes, I know, I bet it was a bit strange to open your browser to a beauty blog and find... a skeleton. But, it does make sense! (If nothing else, I remind you that I'm a MD and freaky things like Mr. Bones are in my background. Along with my love of all things nail polish.)
Kiehl's has just launched a fun new project, which is a blend of celebrity partners, the fine arts, fashion, a charitable donation, Kiehl’s history, and customer interaction. The Meet Mr. Bones project showcases Kiehl’s icon, Mr. Bones, the life-size teaching skeleton that holds a place of honor in all of the stores. When Kiehl’s was still a pharmacy, Mr. Aaron Morse, pharmacist and Kiehl’s founding father, would use a teaching skeleton to explain ailments and prescribe different remedies to his customers.
In this project, Kiehl's teamed up with 13 celebs, who were given free rein to design and build his or her own Mr. Bones, and each will be on display for six weeks at the seven New York metro-area Kiehl’s stores, June 2 through July 14th.
The celebs are:
David Chang with Steve Keene
Olek (Agata Oleksiak)
For their participation in the project, $200,000 will be donated to organizations supporting Children, the Environment, and HIV/AIDS causes worldwide that were chosen by our partners. And, at the end of 2012, each of these Mr. Bones will be auctioned off to further benefit each charity.
So, you can head to a Kiehl's store near you in (well, if you're in New York) to visit the skeletons. My favorite 2 are above. While you're there, tweet about it to win prizes, or get a few 20 minute skin consultation. If you're not in NYC you can still participate!
Over on the Kiehl's Facebook Page you can create your own Mr. Bones and enter to win prizes including a $1,000 Kiehl’s gift card. Your personalized Mr. Bones can also be saved and shared on your personal Facebook page.
