Aveeno's Be An Active Natural Fund! Get Involved
I've had a little secret in the works for a few months and I'm excited to share it with you! This month, Aveeno is launching their BE AN ACTIVE NATURAL™ Fund program. This is an amazing extension of their Active Naturals ingredients. As ingredients, active naturals nurture skin and hair to make a healthier and more beautiful difference; as people, ‘active naturals’ care for their communities to make a healthier and more beautiful difference. See how that works?

Aveeno is launching the Be An Active Natural™ Fund to award more than $300,000 in grants to individuals and organizations that create positive change in their communities.

You can:
• Enter to win one of eight $10,000 grants that will be awarded in 2012 by creating positive change in one of the following ways:
Inspire: Inspiring others to see their natural and inner beauty
Educate: Educating about the values of an active and healthy lifestyle
Preserve: Preserving, restoring and improving the local environment

• Go to the Aveeno facebook page for full program details to vote for the Active Natural who inspires you

To advertise the campaign, Aveeno has pulled in the help of some of their Beauty Ambassadors. This group is filled with some great beauty, fashion, mommy and lifestyle bloggers. Basically, Aveeno sends us new products. They teach us about them. We write our honest opinion about them, or we don't. They are so excited about their brand and products (which I fully admit I've always been a fan of anyways) that it is hard not to get excited as well!

When starting this year's group of Ambassadors, they asked us if there were any charities that were near and dear to our hearts. My answer was easy, the Ronal McDonald House and my hospital's similar program, Home Away From Home. The support they provide to the families of my patients is vital. You can not imagine how difficult, stressful and life changing it is to have your child admitted to the ICU. Having someone there to help take care of you while you support your kiddo through their illness.... I can't even write about it. I'm starting to cry already. You can watch a video of me talk about them over on the Aveeno facebook page (go to Be an Active Natural and then the heroes tab). That was my 5th (or 10th...) take, and the only one in which I don't become a big crying mess by the end.

So, Aveeno picked a few Ambassadors with causes that are important to us, and they are featuring us in an "advertorial" campaign and on their Facebook page! I was the lucky one that was featured in this month's Real Simple (one of my favorite magazines!), and you can see my ad above. I'm happy to be able to share it with you, and I'd love if one of my readers won an Aveeno grant. Come up with an idea to create change and enter today!

As part of this campaign, I filmed a video for Aveeno's website and had a friend take a pic of me at work. I was featured in a magazine and on the Aveeno Facebook page, but I did not receive any compensation other than the exposure.

Christine, Congratulations and really good work! Kudos to Aveeno too for spending promotional dollars in such a meaningful and truly life changing way. They have great skin care products and now this innovative campaign. It's game changing and they're leading the way by having their Beauty Ambassadors spot important needs in their communities - what a great partnership of purpose. Right on Christine and right on Aveeno! (Beautiful picture too!)
