American Apparel Neon Nail Polish: Review, Swatches and Perfect for Spring!

American Apparel Neon Nail Polish Review Swatch
Neons are big for this spring. Huge. They will be everywhere. It may be hard to buy a non-neon clothing item in fact. The real challenge is going to be incorporating this trend without looking like a Miami Vice extra. For help with that, I refer you to Tiffany at iamstyle-ish, she had a great post on neons for this spring.

Another option for looking updated but spending minimal cash is to incorporate a neon nail polish in your look. I would be careful with applying a neon to all of your nails, particularly if you work in a remotely "serious" or conservative field. Instead, consider an accent nail, or something like the neon french recently featured on Refinery 29 that's making the rounds on Pinterest.

Neon polishes are somewhat hard to work with. Due to the nature of the pigment, they are hard to get opaque, they tend to be uneven (at least in my experience) and they usually don't dry shiny.

These polishes from American Apparel did require 3 coats each, though in person they were opaque. (Yes, I know... the lightest colors look a tad uneven sometimes in these pics. In person, I couldn't tell. Maybe 4 coats next time!) They applied smoothly and dried semi-matte. So, pick a good top coat if you want them shiny! I wore an accent nail of the purple and after 4 days things still looked perfect.
