100 Bloggers Unite! Ralph Lauren's Pink Pony Raises Money to Fight Cancer

As you know, tomorrow is October 1st, which means you are about to be bombarded by pink everything and information about Breast Cancer. (I'll be part of the bombardment, watch for a different product each day that will help raise money for a Breast Cancer charity.)

However, you may not know about Ralph Lauren's commitment to raising money. For over 20 years Ralph Lauren has been committed to raising money for Breast Cancer. The Pink Pony was created as a global year round effort to raise funds, and this year is the 10 year anniversary! While originally created to raise funds for Breast Cancer, the Pink Pony has expanded to include all cancers. Pink Pony's mission is now to help address the needs of the medically underserved bringing quality cancer care, access to cancer care, and early detection for those who need it most.

To help celebrate The Pink Pony's 10th Anniversary and to raise additional money this October, Ralph Lauren is going all out! There will be a new luxury product, the first annual Pink Pony online public auction hosted by Charity Buzz, and a text-to-donate campaign.

Read on to find out more about my picture above (complete with baby bump!) and this year's special initiatives!

The Charity Auction
To kickoff this year's global fundraising and awareness campaign, Ralph Lauren and Charity Buzz have created the first annual global Pink Pony Online Auction. The auction begins Friday, October 1st and runs through October 21st. 100% of the net proceeds from this auction will benefit the Pink Pony Fund of The Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation!

You will want to check out this auction. Why? Absolutely amazing items, and it's a bit easier to justify buying one or two (or maybe more) items for yourself when so much will go to charity.

Luxury Ralph Lauren Items:
• Alligator Ricky 33 handbag
• Alligator Cooper Check Book Wallet
• Alligator cuff with Cooper Lock and the iconic Ralph Lauren Stirrup Timepiece

Amazing Ralph Lauren Experiences:
• A Front Row Seat at the Ralph Lauren Fall 2011 Fashion Show and Meet the Designer Backstage
• Have Your Child Star in a Ralph Lauren Ad
• A Personal Tour of Ralph Lauren’s World-Famous Car Collection
• Play Polo with Polo Model Nacho Figueras

Other Great Opportunities:
• Meet Jerry Seinfeld backstage at a show
• Two Tickets to Miami Heat Game and Meet Lebron James
• Taylor Swift Autographed Guitar
• Go Behind the Scenes of Bravo’s Top Chef
• Meet Lance Armstrong
• Two Tickets to the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games

Bloggers Unite
Finally, about that baby bump picture! Ralph Lauren selected 100 bloggers to model the Pink Pony polo. We'll be featured over on AOL Stylist.

The polo shirt is not the only Pink Pony item. They have a huge range available, and on October 3rd and 4th, 100% of all net proceeds received from Pink Pony product sold at Ralph Lauren stores and on RalphLauren.com will benefit the Pink Pony Fund. A few of my favorites are below.

1.) Wellies, $75: Good wellies seem to be surprisingly hard to find. I was on the hunt last year, and the cheapest quality wellies are usually well over $100. These are amazing, have the cute Pink Pony on the back of the heel, and such a steal!

2.) Pink Pony Sunglasses, $190

3.) Pink Pony Organic Tote, $10: You may need to buy a large number of these.

4.) Pink Pony Candle, $45: Notes include Pink Lily of the Valley, Pink Magnolia and Pink Peony

If you want to check out the rest of my picture (and see a rare pic of me on the internet, let me know what you think about my newly non-blonde hair), you'll need to head over to AOL Stylist where you'll find me amongst the 100 bloggers. Now that I've seen my pic on their site, I'm a bit dissappointed in myself. I was stuck in the "head shot" mode (I've been asked for a head shot quite often recently for both the blog and work), hence my shot is boring. And somehow their copy of my pic makes me look like a ghost, but the one I sent them didn't look like that. Oh well.

I'm one of the bloggers chosen to participate in the Pink Pony bloggers group. I did get that polo for free (it's a super nice shirt by the way. Too bad the baby bump is now too big for it, hopefully I can wear it again next summer!) I received no other compensation for this project but I do feel that the campaign is a very worthy charity and hope you'll consider donating or purchasing an item that will donate!

You are adorable, Christine! Your hair is to die for - it looks so nice and thick! I like the color, too....I can't say I knew what it looked like before - but it's cute this way for sure. :)

Thanks Jaime!
My hair was light brown/dirty blonde before, and years of highlights definitely made me pretty blonde. (like the logo on the top of the blog!) It was so blonde with my super pale skin that it just didn't look right. A few months ago I had it dyed to match my roots. And it came out way darker than I thought it would, but it's growing on me.
It's definitely super thick, I'm the girl that has to have it thinned at the salon (yes, you can hate me for this). I was worried when I heard everyone's hair gets much thicker when they're pregnant, I was afraid I'd look like bozo! Thankfully this hasn't happened to me yet and I'm almost 6 months. :D

I need one of everything! I love pink and Ralph Lauren, especially those wellies

I couldn't believe it when you announced that you were pregnant - as I am just a month behind you. I was so excited - b/c I knew that you'd have some awesome pregnancy related skincare/makeup tips! (By the way - can you address stretch marks sometime? I'm wondering if cocoa butter or oil will help prevent them....)

Anyway - glad you aren't getting overwhelmed by more hair. I am jealous of yours as it is now, though! :) I think the darker color complements your coloring very well. I went through the same thing about 5 years ago...too many blonde highlights left me with a mostly blonde look, as well. One day I had it dyed a dark chestnut color, and I haven't gone back since!

Have a great weekend!

You're a month behind me?? That's fantastic, congrats!

I had been planning to do this big series on pregnancy beauty, but keep getting sidetracked. I even asked Cynthia Bailey (a dermatologist with a great blog, she comments here every now and then) if I could interview her, then got sidetracked again with work and studying for ICU boards.... yeah, I'm behind! :D

Anyways, the word on stretchmarks is that really nothing topical works. You can buy all the creams in the world, and it won't help. I've been trying out a few products for them anyways, and as I've been getting bigger now (24 weeks currently), my stomach has started getting a big itchy. Using the creams helps with that if nothing else. I've tried the new Mederma, the cocoa butter, the burt's bees mama belly stuff and Mustela. The Mederma's smell makes me want to barf. The cocoa butter is fine, the Burt's Bees is my fave so far (it sinks in faster) and the Mustela was also a bit smelly.

As far as I can tell, it's pretty genetically driven, and if you gain a lot of weight it's worse. I'll start looking in to it more and write a post soon for you! :D

Bless your heart! I'm really thankful you're a month ahead of me - I can take notes on all the things you've tried, and save myself some time (and cash!) by just checking out the things that worked for you! Your recommendations are always spot on. :)

Good luck on your ICU boards, and don't forget to rest a little! We understand if the postings become a little sparse - you've got a lot going on!

I cannot find the tote (#3) at any RL store or online. Do you know where I can find them?

Christine said...

I just tried finding it on-line as well and it definitely is not on their website. I went back to the email from RL that told me about the pink pony products. Rather than a pdf press release with info on each product, they had a web address with a special press site where the info on each product was located. The tote isn't on the site any more (the site felt a lot smaller, I'm wondering what else came off of the site). I looked around on-line and found that the tote had been featured on a bunch of other blogs and even in Family Circle magazine, but no one else had any more info on where to find it. I'm bummed because I wanted a couple of totes as well. Has anyone managed to find it?
