Protect Your Hands! Miss Oops Butter Hands

Protect Your Hands! Miss Oops Butter Hands, sunscreen, anti-aging, hand cream
Hands are an interesting thing. We use them all the time, but they are pretty much always left out of the anti-aging thing or sunscreen application. When I lived in So Cal it was always interesting to spot the women that had obviously spent a lot of money on plastic surgery to look younger, and then had super old looking hands. Sunspots, lax skin.... the hands almost always gave them away.

So, as part of my growing old gracefully (aka- no plastic surgery), but fighting to look young (aka- using topical products that work), I've decided I should sunscreen my hands. Particularly in the car, where your hands get a ton of sun exposure sitting there on your steering wheel.

Keeping that in mind, I was happy to see that Miss Oops had a hand cream with SPF 30. Perfect for keeping my hands feeling and looking great! I was excited to try it out.

I used it for a few days at work, figuring if it could tough it out through many hand washing with hospital soap it would be good pretty much everywhere else. This lotion is fairly moisturizing and does feel good with application. It definitely has a sunscreen smell, and I was disappointed that there was a residual "film" of product on my hands after most of it had absorbed. I wasn't super greasy, but it was a bit bothersome. The product kept my hands soft and feeling good through a few hand washings though, which is not something I can say for most products.

So, it was a good hand cream, with a little too many sunscreen side effects (the residue and smell) to be my new hand cream for work. It's perfect for toting around in my purse though and applying in the car.

SPF 30
I like that there is UVA and UVB coverage, though I am disappointed that the entire UVA range isn't covered. Remember that UVB rays are usually filtered by glass, though you'll be exposed as soon as you step out of the car.

  1. Hello,
I've been reading your blog for quite some time now and you've convinced me to finally start using sunscreen regularly. I was wondering if you could recommend your favorite everyday sunscreen with a broad spectrum coverage that doesn't have that distinct sunscreen smell. From reading your beauty blog I've concluded that it doesn't matter how high the grade of SPF as long as it covers a wide spectrum? Honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell if a sunscreen covers everything I need unless you post that helpful diagram. Thank you so much!

    All the best,

    Location: California

  2. Always realizing the dryness of my hands while they are on the wheel, I started many years ago to keep a tube of sunscreen in the car and use it as much as possible. The only thing is that, in summer, because of the heat, I am not sure how long it keeps in the car.
