Am I Alive? No, Just Burned Out...

I haven't blogged in a loooong time. I swear that I am still alive. I am not ill. Really, I've just been burned out on blogging! I had all sorts of holiday posts planned, products to test, and literally hundreds (and now thousands) of emails from PR reps sitting in my inbox. Comments from readers on posts have not been published (thanks to the person that called me many horrible names for not publishing her comment on Skin ID. It's published now, but you're not a nice person). They've all been ignored.

Time away from blogging has provided a little bit of a needed break and some perspective, and after debating about whether I should keep the site.... I've decided to come back to blogging. I've missed it. I love trying out new products and reading about new beauty ingredients.

I've decided that the site will be less of a focus than it was before, but you can expect to see a few updates a week. I'll be posting reviews of products that I love, and I'll try to refocus on time savers and in depth posts about why/how products work. You won't find pictures of every new collection here (honestly, I find blogs that just repost the press release to be somewhat boring and since everyone else does it... you won't find me doing it). I'm going to try to focus on brands that are easily available to my readers (meaning- things at department stores, sephora or department stores), for a small niche brand to make it to the site something had better be very exciting or it had better work REALLY well.

I'll start with some posts about the products I seem to be using most often right now. They're things that I've actually gone out and (gasps) bought on my own and I am reaching for them over and over. I've also discovered a new mass market beauty mecca that might surprise you. So, stay tuned!

Are there any topics that you're particularly interested in? Let me know in the comments!

hey you!! Welcome back! I've been wondering where you've been. Glad to see you've decided to return to blogging. Now what IS that mass-market beauty mecca?

Oh, you'll have to wait and see! I think I'm going to have to run over there and see if I can sneak a few pics to share with everyone.

I've already written 3 new posts for the next week or so, and I have a lot more stuff to write about.

Glad you are back and got a breather. I think sometimes taking a break is a good thing and refocusing on why you started your blog in the first place. And bravo for not just reposting press releases and for focusing on special products. That is so helpful!

Glad you're back! It sounds like your site will be more along what I enjoy reading and learning from. Especially time-savers, and since I don't have alot of money, knowing things that really work will help me a lot. I'm looking forward to your reviews and take care of yourself! Have a Blessed Day. :)

Hi Christine,

I'm a new beauty blogger, and have started following your site--you've got a great voice and I'm eager to read your future posts! Laura Mercier's Kohl Pencil eyeliner is one of the products I definitely "keep reaching for." Just blogged about it tonight in fact!: http://glossaryblog.onsugar.com/

It's awesome you're back!!! I was just having a conversation with a friend about paraben and sulfates-free cosmetics and wanted to know your thoughts on them. :)

Tara- I'll have to check that one out! I'm obsessed with the Buxom liner right now, I have a review coming in a few days.

Veronica- I'm not terribly worried about parabens truthfully. I've discussed them more in depth in the comments here in this post, explaining a little bit about the nonexistant science that is out there. Having said that, since I've written that information a few very prominent pediatricians have come out and said that we need to look at chemical exposure as the cause of autism, since we don't seem to be able to link vaccines to autism. Exposure to toxins during pregnancy is a more realistic cause, though there is NO evidence to link it right now. Having said that, if a chemical makes you uncomfortable, there are so many great chemical free options now that you should be able to easily avoid them. I know when I'm pregnant I'll be avoiding everything that I possibly can.
Regarding sulfate-free cosmetics I honestly don't know how that affects the skin. It does affect your hair, and most hair dressers will say to avoid sulfates if possible.

I'm so glad you're back! I had been bummed because one of my other fave beauty blogs appears to be finished and I was worried you'd taken that route too. You're one of my first and fave blogs! I also like how you're planning to change your postings a little-- seems more like how you started out, and I loved the more focused postings much more than all the postings about every new collection.
Don't even think twice about those mean comments- people like that need to GET A LIFE- I don't think they realize that this is a blog, and there is a REAL person behind it with a life and usually a full-time job. You go girl! ☺

glad you're back and shame on those people who gave you a hard time about not publishing their comments - your day has only 24 hours just like everybody else's, you don't seem to own some magical time-stretching device either, so i think you are absolutely entitled to taking a break whenever you like ;o)

Hey welcome back! I did miss your site - it's one of those that inspired me to start mine. *blush* but I figured you had your reasons and hoped you were doing great. We all need a break from blogging now and then I think - especially when it stops being fun and becomes a chore. Take it easy and blog as you like. We haven't left you! =D

People keep telling me I'm too young (24!) to use all those anti aging creams.. but a lot of blogs are saying you should use these creams as early as 21! May I suggest you write about the perfect creams for ages 20s-30s :)
