What's Your Favorite Waterproof Mascara? Here's Mine!

max factor, volume couture, waterproof, favorite, mascara, water proof, waterproof
This morning my cell phone rang. My cell phone never rings. Very few people have the number and those that do know I can't answer it when I'm in the hospital. It turned out to be my sister (who knows I'm not at the hospital today). She was calling with a beauty emergency.

What was the emergency? Well, she's 3 days before her wedding and she was in the middle of Sephora. And dumbfounded by all of the mascara. What to buy? She called me since I'm doing her makeup that day. (I'm very nervous about this by the way. I've never done any one else's makeup. I'm a doctor, not a makeup artist. I'm bringing absurd amounts of product with me.) I wanted her to have waterproof mascara. I couldn't think of a good one at Sephora (my favorite Tarte ones are no longer sold at my Sephora, and they aren't waterproof anyways). I told her she needed to go to CVS.

Leave Sephora and go to CVS??

Yes.

She doesn't have time to go, so I'll be buying it for her here in California. I'll be getting her my favorite waterproof mascara, Max Factor's Volume Couture Mascara. Many waterproof formulas are not quite waterproof, are not easy to apply or are impossible to remove. Not so this one! It's every bit as good as the regular one.

I will admit that since she wanted some expensive mascara I sent her to the closest Chanel counter for the Exceptionnel, which I've been trying out recently and love. But I told her that for the wedding itself we were going to use the Max Factor waterproof mascara and it would be fantastic.

So, spill the beans! I want to know what everyone's favorite waterproof mascara is right now!

Hands down, my fave mascara is the Mary Kay Ultimate. Goes on easy, doesn't smudge or flake, comes off easy. Lasts through tears, sweat, all that good stuff.

great to know!! I love hearing about drug store brands that outperform higher-cost items! I always just assume the brands that populate Sephora are the best!

Shu Basic!!! I wanted the shu precise volume waterproof my our cruise vacation last month, but it was out of stock on sephora.com. I searched the other WP mascaras and saw that "basic" was actually listed as WP...and it's wonderful! makes my lashes really full (more so than the precise volume)--I was super suprised with basic but have been really, really impressed.

You will do a great job with your sis's makeup I'm sure! I by no means an artist either and I did the makeup for one of my good friend's wedding last year. (the first and only time I've done someone else's makeup). It was fun and turned out great, if I do say so myself. :-) Hopefully you will be able to do some trial runs before the day of, and I just suggest snapping a couple pics before the actual event to make sure it's going to photo well! good luck.

I have always loved L'Oreal's Voluminous Mascara Waterproof. What I love about is that it only takes one or two coats to get really full lashes. The only problem is it is hard to take off. I'll be trying the max factor one next time I need waterproof!

I just made a very similar mascara post today :).

As of right now my favorite waterproof mascara is the Blinc Kiss Me. If I know I'm gonna be crying, this is the one I turn to :)

I'm a beauty counter snob [hides in shame}, but I've found a drug store gem that beats 'em all. Just recently discovered it and LOVE it - L'Oreal Paris Double Extend Beauty Tubes in Blackest Black! xo

My favorite of all-time is also a Max Factor -- 2000 Calorie Waterproof. It is simply unbeatable. Next in line is Maybelline's Full N Soft. I have naturally long lashes, but they're thin, and my eyes are sensitive, so I need massive plumping little to no lengthening, and something that simply will NOT flake off, but comes off easily with remover. The above fit all requirements, in addition to clumping nearly not at all -- which is critical when your lashes are long and spindly!

silky girl waterproof mascara and it's cheap too(:

My favorite brand for mascara by far. The brush is the best!

Bourjois Volume Clubbing is my holy grail waterproof. I get massive lashes, they're not clumpy but it lasts all day. I sell high end cosmetics and I am constantly having customers come up and ask me what mascara I'm wearing.

I don't do waterproof, but I use the MFVC regular in black and I LOVE it. I've told everyone I know about it!

I went to Sephora the evening before my son's wedding, as I have never bought waterproof mascara before. The helpful young clerk recommended Hypnose Waterproof and it worked. I got through the wedding without looking like Alice Cooper

I totally second L'Oreal Voluminous in Waterproof--everytime I use it, I feel like it's liquid gold. It gives more of a fluttery, full lash look, and if you're looking for bold, fat lashes, you're better off with Covergirl LashBlast in Waterproof.

Cover girl LashBlast in waterproof never flakes or smudges on me. It gives you bold, thick lashes and I think that photographs nicely.

Voluminous Waterproof version is what I use, on that rare occasion. Clinique makes a 24 hour one called Lash Power Long Wearing, that is phenomenal as well - but for the big lash payoff, I go with Voluminous.

Congrats to your sister and have fun playing with all your products and doing her makeup. You will do great!

Not waterproof, but recently I moved to Fresh's Firebird. I usually don't do waterproof mascara (more likely to waterproof the eyeliner) cause it doesn't really run on me. The brush on fresh's is perfect and separates my lashes. Plus it doesn't add extra weight (which is important to me since I don't curl my lashes). I have pretty long natural lashes but they fade out quickly.

blink kiss me and tarte lash stain - both survive even the splashiest of dragon boat races without turning me all raccoony...

I've tried at least 10+ wp mascaras in all price ranges and the only one that doesn't wear off under my eyes is Covergirl Marathon Mascara (it comes in a green tube and has a curved brush). It's not great at lengthening but it does not wear off - not ever. Even if I accidentally sleep in it, it's still there in the morning. I use a mixture of jojoba, kukui nut and rosehip seed oil (my OCM combo) to remove it at night. This works better than traditional makeup removers.

But since you posted about it, I'm going to have to try the Max Factor VCM. The only thing I really love about the CG Marathon mascara is that it doesn't wear off. If I can find another mascara that measures up in that aspect and lengthens/separates better than CG, I'm sold!

L'Oreal Voluminous is my personal favourite. When my tube ran out I decided to spring for Dior Show, but to be honest, I love my L'Oreal more.

I'm curious about this Max Factor mascara though. Unfortunately, we don't get the brand up here in Canada.

Thanks for the info regarding this mascara - I am going to grab a few tubes for my makeup kit to use on my clients. My favorite waterproof mascara is Dior Show, but I am always on the look out for the next great water proof mascara!

I only use Max Factor waterproof mascara now, it's the only one I've found so far that lasts the longest w/ out smudging (and I tend to have only lids), I can take it off easily w/ makeup remover, and it doesn't turn my lashes stick straight the moment it touches them. Loves it!

I just tried Maybelline Unstoppable Curly mascara :) it worked well even though I didn't use my eyelash-curler at all.
I just made my own review about it. check out my blog :D
