Semi-Matte Foundation for Fall: Shu Uemura's Face Architect

shu uemura, foundation, face architect, reviewI feel as though recently women have been bombarded by information about release after release of yet another new foundation. Is it Fall? Is it a return to "glamour" and "lady like" fall clothing (which seem to be the next big thing year after year?) Who knows. Maybe I'm noticing it more than usual this year because they are showing up one by one on my doorstep. I'm going to spare you discussing the ones that are ok, but I want to point out the ones that I love.

So, here's one that I love!

This is a simple cream foundation. While Shu states that it gives you medium to full coverage, I find the coverage to be more like sheer to medium, but very buildable. The cream is not quite mousse-like in it's texture and thickness. It's definitely smooth and creamy, a little seems to go a long way, and it blends incredibly easily. Personally, I've been applying with my fingers and then I use a foundation brush like Synthetic Brush 14 to smooth away the last bits of unblended foundation. I apply more where I want more coverage.

The finish is semi-matte, which I love.

There you go, simple and easy, a great foundation for fall!

Shu also came out with a new brush for foundation which I have fallen in love with! It's the Goat 18, it's short goat hair and you use it dry--LOVE IT! It's so soft and you're supposed to buff it into the skin while the Syn 14 kinda just sits on top of the skin. Anywho, I love the new cream foundation and the brush together. Hooray for awesome coverage!!

I am a huge shu fan and i used their water perfect smoothing water-in fluid foundation forever. I was getting bored with the texture, so I started experimenting a little bit with other brands and formulas that aimed for a natural matte finish. Believe it or not, I stumbled upon Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy (one of my fave MUAs!) Your Skin Makeup Foundaiton. It is so lightweight but gives amazing coverage. It comes with a pump, which I like too. I also picked up the Luminizing Face Primer, which gives a subtle sheen and minimized the amount of foundation I use! Love it!
