Olay Quench & Aquacurrents: Can A Foam Really Hydrate Your Skin?

olay quench body lotion mousse moisturizer
Among the first products on the market to feature the Aquacurrents technology (aka- more humectants than usual), Olay's new Quench lotions promise more long lasting moisture to areas of your skin that need it.

The lotion doesn't really feel different from what you probably already have in your bathroom right now. It has a light fruity/floral scent that I can't really describe, feels silky and sinks into your skin right away without residue. I love that it does feel lighter on my skin than many other lotions/creams, but still provides a lot of moisture to my dry skin. It really does seem to last longer than other body lotions, I don't have to reapply at night.

The Mousse meanwhile I still am not too sure about. I can't tell if I like it or not. It has the same scent as the lotion, and it does come out of the can exactly like hair mousse. The mousse feels silky and wet as I apply it, but it does sink in very quickly, hydrate my skin and leaves no residue behind. It just really feels strange to me to rubbing mousse all over my skin. I think this is just me, if you like mousse moisturizer this seems to be a great choice!

If you look at the ingredients in both of these moisturizers you will see that while Niacinamide (the main humectant in the Aquacurrents products) is listed very high, there are still some of the more traditional emollients and occlusives (such as glycerin, petrolatum and coco butter). Usually humectants are quite a bit lower on the list of ingredients in a moisturizer if they are included at all.

  1. Oh I'm glad there is finally a drugstore foam moisturizer. Awhile back in a Bliss set there was a Carrot + Sesame scrub and moisturizing mousse-lotion. The scrub I didn't care for so much, but the mousse made my skin soft like no other!! I must go try this!
