Total Beauty Summit
I've spent the last two days at an event up in LA with Total Beauty. They held a Summit this weekend for Beauty Bloggers which was fantastic!
I was able to meet bloggers from around the country, and you won't see pictures from me (sorry peeps, I don't want my picture on the internet). Also, I was so awed to be there that I forgot to take pictures most of the time! I met a LOT of people, but the highlights really were:
Michelle from All Lacquered Up: Michelle and I met over a year ago on Makeup Alley's Nail Board. We've talked on the phone, e-mailed, chatted and swapped but this was the first time I met her in person! She is amazing and somehow even more fun in person!
Jamie from The Beauty of Life is a total crackup! I felt like I'd known her forever when I met her. In combination with Michelle these two were making me laugh all day on Friday.
Monique from Beauty Girl Musings is amazing. She's very sweet, funny and you should see the pictures of her children! They really need agents to get them into Gap ads. Did I mention she should model too?
Marina from Makeup Loves Me and Amber from Beauty Blogging Junkie were the NYC girls I was around all weekend. They are both incredibly funny with just the right amount of snarkiness (meaning, the same amount as me) and Amber has a crazy knowledge of Reality Television and 80's movies. Last night she was singing "Get out of my dreams" in the back of my Murano. I'm not sure how she knew all of the words! Best of luck to Marina next week as she starts out in a venture.
Nancy from Beauty 411 is a doll! I met her on our "beauty tour" Friday and found her sweet and easy to talk with. We have somewhat similar and related day jobs, so we were the girls asking about the science behind everything and chatting about some of the craziness of said science when it made no sense whatsoever! She won a makeover on Saturday from a salon in Newport. She was reluctant at first but I have to say that her results were amazing! She has shorter and sassy hair now with color that really just warmed up her whole complexion.
The last time I saw Elke aka- Elke Von Freudenberg she was visiting me at work. Really. She was in town and came to say hi to me at the hospital where I was in my scrubs. I was not so glamorous. This time I saw her a few days in a row, I had her do my makeup (tip- I need to line my eyes a bit further out to elongate my eye) and then she even "fixed" my brows for me! Really, they're a work in progress after a recent butchering from the brow girl at a salon/store. Elke has a lot of amazing things coming up soon, so stay tuned! I already know I'll be raving more about her after things I saw and heard this weekend.
Tammy from A Mom in Red High Heels is definitely my kind of girl and I wish that I had been able to talk more with her! It turns out that she lives only a few hours from me and even stranger that she grew up in a small town in the midwest about 20 miles south of my small home town! I even had my wedding reception in her town five years ago. She's very sweet and I'm hoping to see her again sometime!
No post about this weekend would be complete without discussing the dynamic duo of Christina from eBeauty Daily and Teri who is from Aging Fabulous and way too many other blogs to mention. These two were always together and I really, really wish I had more time with them. They are amazing social butterflies that had all of us cracking up whenever they were around. Really, they are just good people and I'm hoping that I'll spend more time with them at an event in the future.
And last but definitely not least, I was finally able to meet Daneen from Spoiled Pretty! Daneen e-mailed me about a year ago when she was starting Spoiled Pretty for advice and we've e-mailed on and off since. Spoiled Pretty is now way more popular than 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic (probably because Daneen is smart and funny with tons of giveaways while I tend to ramble on about boring topics). Daneen is exactly how I thought she'd be! She's tons of fun, sweet and in the words of Amber, she's hilar!
I have a ton of things to write about from this weekend and it will take me months to review all of the places they took us not to mention the hundreds of products I was given to review. We hit Kate Somerville, Murad, the L'Oréal Paris store in the Beverly Center and Anastasia for celebrity brows and a Billy Baldwin sighting!
And yes, we definitely were given a lot of free stuff. Pretty much all stuff to review, most of it stuff I had on my radar to buy and review (especially the stuff at L'Oreal) but also a nice tote bag from Tory Burch (again, from L'Oreal), but much brighter and shinier than I ever would have bought for myself.
Mostly right now I'm kicking myself for forgetting to talk more to the people from Redpoint Beauty and Raw Natural Beauty about their foundations and what shades would work for me. I did get to meet the genius behind many new skin care lines including all of the M Lab that I've been reviewing, Lisa Hoffman's new skin care line and some very revolutionary new products from Intelligent Beauty that are coming out soon. The science behind the new products is amazing and seemed to make sense to me (and my Biomedical Engineering husband), and will truly revolutionize skin care. I can't wait to try them!
The Total Beauty team had a lot of great tips on improving our blogs, so watch for a few changes around here. Let me just say right now that I got called out in front of about 50 bloggers about the other sites that link to me, it was a bit embarrassing. So, if you're linking to me as 15minbeauty or something else expect a quick e-mail from me asking you to change me over to 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic. Otherwise, I hope you'll love the improvements to come!
Also, a quick reminder that Total Beauty is the place to win the car filled with green beauty products! Don't forget to run over there and enter! Or, just run over there and check things out for yourself, this is a great site.
