Kiehl's Vital Sun Protection

When on vacation I tend to stick to the brands I love for my sunscreen, which means Neutrogena and of course Kiehl's! I tend to use the Kiehl's on my face to prevent any breakout issues and I have to say that I've always been very happy with the results. Plus, there's the added bonus of feeling like a Kiehl's sunscreen is just extra pampering for while on vacation. Really, the extra $2 is worth it!

The Ingredients
A quick glance shows us that the product does provide appropriate broad spectrum coverage and that the Avobenzone is well stabilized with the Octocrylene, so there is good UVA coverage.

• Octisalate (5%): UVB
• Octocrylene (10%): UVB
• Oxybenzone (6%): UVB, Short Wave UVA

The Sunscreen Experience
There's a reason that this has been one of my favorites for years, and the real answer is not that it makes me feel pampered! This is a great sunscreen. It is creamy and silky but sinks pretty much immediately into the skin. About two minutes after you've applied it the only clue that it is there is a very faint smell of sunscreen. I've never had an issue with feeling sticky using this sunscreen, even after multiple layers! It works for both my body and face, which is unusual (unless I state that a sunscreen is ok for face, I only ever use that sunscreen for body). This is a very non-irritating product for me.

I have applied makeup over this product as well without any issues.

Availability
Kiehl's is not as hard to find as you might think! You can order it on-line from the Kiehl's Website, buy it at a Kiehl's Store (I have one in my mall here, you likely have one near you as well), or at many department stores. Near me there are Kiehl's counter at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom and I think Saks also has a counter. All of those stores also sell Kiehl's through their websites! No excuses about not finding it.

As well, this product is available in SPF 15, 30 and 40. I have found no differences between the formulations, which has been a problem with different SPF values in Neutrogena products. Personally, I have a ton of this product in SPF 40 at my house.

The Verdict
A great option for an everyday sunscreen, this is also a great product for those days that you know you'll be spending more time in the sun!

What do you think of powder sunscreen? I have heard that it doesn't work as well as liquid or creamy sunscreen. I've been thinking of getting a powder sunscreen such as like from Colorescience because I have a very oily skin and most sunscreen that I've tried made it worst. Thanks.

Sharon,
The lotion is currently $18.50 for 5 ounces. I'm trying to not include prices in any of my posts since they change so often. At the bottom of each post is a link to the product. Hope that helps!

Rina-
I haven't tried a powder sunscreen yet, though I have to admit that I'm a bit skeptical that it would provide the exact SPF stated on the product because it would depend a LOT on how much powder is applied. I do have a powder sunscreen from Jane Iredale sitting here to try out this week, so stay tuned!
