ColorOn Eye ShadowTuesday, April 22, 2008
I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about the ColorOn eyeshadows. I saw them on television, and I really could not understand how this product could deposit shadow and how that shadow would last. I definitely saw that it could be a huge time saver though! So, when I had the chance to try out the ColorOn products I jumped at the chance.
Really, it took me a few tries to get the hang of using these applicators, but now that I have the technique down I do think they are a pretty good. Each applicator has a lot of gel-like shadow on it, which you press against your lid to deposit the color. I found that while the applicator is meant to "fit most eyelids" it was too large for my eyes so I was careful to not apply it beyond those areas. A very light touch on the applicator will apply the correct amount of product, and the applicator applied shadow to both of my eyes about 2 or 3 times. The shadow has very definite lines between shades once on your lids which I blended a bit by tapping my ring finger over the area. Once you've achieved the look you want there is a translucent setting powder to apply over it. The powder helps with prolonging the life of your shadow, creates a more powdered feel and does tone down the color a bit (which I liked).
So, once it is on, how does that shadow perform? It's pretty good. It was still on at the end of work (about 10 hours later) but didn't last past dinner. There was a little bit of creasing, but not a lot. I think that this is a product I would use for an evening out (they have a pretty large array of smokey eyes and more elaborate looks that would be perfect for this).
Currently you can buy ColorOn through their website, or at a retailer near you. Coming in July, they will have a collection that is available exclusively at Sephora as well!
