As many blogs and magazines as I read, I still can't get enough of beauty books like those by Kevyn Aucoin and Bobbi Brown. Those books are classics, full of great information and tips. But, there are definitely some duds on the market that offer strange advice and are just a waste of your time and money.Fortunately, we have a new entry into the first, classic category!
Nadine Haobsh is a fellow beauty blogger, and reading the book is just like reading her blog. It is funny, entertaining and I really felt like I was reading an e-mail from a good friend rather than a book! Nadine has great insider tips, and I loved that rather than saying "my favorite blush is a sheer pink-peach" she said "try NARS blush in Orgasm." She named names (specific shades even), comes out and says when to save your money. If you are looking for a great resource of insider beauty tips (or a gift for a beauty obsessed girl), then this book is a great option!
I did find that the section on manicures was a bit short without many details. I would love to refer Nadine (who seems to really love Essie's Mademoiselle) to Lippmann Prelude to a Kiss (a great white-pink), to my favorite base coat (Orly Bonder), top coat (Seche Vite), and CND's Cuticle Eraser cream. I have a feeling that I could turn her into a fellow Makeup Alley Nail Boarder!
