Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Care

Garnier is introducing a new line of skin care. Developed by a dermatologist and nutritionist, the line is meant to provide nutrients and proteins to the cells of the skin. Now, I'm not a dermatologist (I'm in pediatrics, actually), but from what I remember from medical school the skin has very tight junctions between cells, the outer layers are basically dead, and very little can penetrate down. What this means is that large molecules (such as hyaluronic acid) are too big to penetrate down too deeply. It also means that things that can go in and out of cell membranes (such as those with a cholesterol base, like vitamins a and e) can penetrate down into the layers of the skin more easily and are therefore more able to reach the cells that need the nutrients (ie- the non-dead cells). I'm sure that Garnier has already thought of all this stuff, since they went to the trouble of getting a dermatologist involved in the line, but I kind of wonder how large their "rice protein" is and if it will be able to penetrate.

Having said all of that, I haven't yet tried this line, as no stores near me carry it yet. However, you can request a sample at the link below. Let me know if you've tried it!

We've had this Garner product in Toronto for a while now -- I've tried it and it's not that great. It leaves an odd "residuey" feeling on your face. Dissapointing.

I've been using Garnier Nutritioniste products for about a week now, and I think I see a difference. My skin does look brighter and smoother when I wake up in the morning. My faves so far are the Nutri-Pure cream cleanser and the Skin Renew Serum.
