Recently, quite a few bloggers have been reviewing the new DuWop Revolution Face tinted moisturizer, and everyone has raved about it! There have been a LOT of comparisons to Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer (a classic), with pretty much everyone agreeing that the DuWop is even better!
Given all of the hoopla, I decided to give it a try myself. I admit that I've used Laura's Tinted Moisturizer for years, and although I love how easy it is to use, I have always wished that it provided just a touch more coverage and was a little easier to apply (it kind of smears around my face without blending very easily). I ventured over to Sephora last week and was a little perplexed by the DuWop display. There are only 4 colors- Caitlin (lightest beige), Tara (light beige), Laura C. (medium beige) and Conchita (dark beige). In the dark lighting of the South Coast Plaza Sephora, it was hard to tell the difference (quick aside- are all Sephora Stores like this? I have a hard time reading the displays and checking colors in mine. It feels like a nightclub!). The display doesn't show the shade, you are left to use the testers to see which is lightest to darkest, and in the store I was a little concerned that I might pick the wrong shade. I finally decided to go with Caitlin, but I was very concerned that it might be too dark.
Once I got Revolotion Face home, I was very impressed with it! It really isn't a tinted moisturizer, more like very sheer foundation. It is thicker than Laura's tinted moisturizer, making it easier to blend and target certain areas of your face. The description says that it contains "subtle light-reflecting pigment" and is meant to "give you a soft, satin matte finish that leaves your complexion radiant, but never shiny or greasy." I have problems with both of these last 2 things.
I have to say, DuWop certainly delivered on their promise! I look more rested, my skin looks more clear, and I require fewer swips with a blotting sheet than when I use Laura's Tinted Moisturizer or my Bobbi Brown Oil Free Foundation. I love the way my skin looks when I use Revolotion Face! It is definitely replacing my Laura M. Tinted moisturizer for weekend wear, and probably I will use it for work as well rather than Bobbi Brown foundation. I think the only way this product would be better is if it came in a wider array of shades.
